Hi, I'm Susanne and I love wind and weather and nature! That's why I live in the High Arctic! Still, some civilization is nice, that's why I live in the beautiful city of Tromsø! If you wonder how we live at the limits and how we survive in the arctic I would love to share my passion and my excitement with you. If you are looking for memorable experiences under the midnight sun or in polar night under the dancing northern lights join me for a special and safe experience. The centre of Tromsø is situated on one island, though the city area includes 60 more islands. Most of Tromsø is within walking distance, so we can explore most of the highlights and my "hidden gems" by strolling through the city together. Some places, though, like the Arctic Cathedral or the Cable car are easier to reach by either public transport or with a limo. Other adventures, like the beautiful nature of the outer islands or the magic of the northern lights are better experienced with a comfortable limo or taxi. Over the past 30 years, I have been guiding guests in Tromsø, in Norway and Scandinavia in summer and in winter. I have been walking thousands of kilometres on walks in Tromsø and the area of Tromsø, have spent hundreds of nights out under the northern lights and have travelled all varieties of tours in Norway and Scandinavia. I was born in Germany, grew up in Greece, Germany and Norway and have been living and working in various countries. I find my multicultural background comes in handy when welcoming guests from all over the world. In addition to my passion for guiding, I am working as a keynote speaker and a trainer for new city guides, tour guides and northern lights guides. I am also a certified Lead International trainer by the WFTGA (World Federation of Tour Guide Associations), which brings me to different countries to train new guides. What does a tour guide do in her free time? Of course, I love traveling! Having lived in various continents, I enjoy discovering the European countries these years. However, Tromsø and Northern Norway are my all-time favourites! I pride myself on being able to relate to and meet the interests of my guests and will happily customize your tour to meet your needs and wishes. Social anthropology, psychology and tourism management (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany) Certified Tromsø Guide (by Visit Tromsø) Authorised guide for Tromsø and Norway (by Norges Guide Forbund) Accredited guide by the WFTGA (World Federation of Tour Guide Associations) member og Interpret Europe (heritage interpretation) Actually the only tourist guide and Lead International Trainer in Norway accredited by the WFTGA (World Federation of Tour Guide Associations) I'm an authorized guide and can guide in all museums in Tromsø and Northern Norway. According to Norwegian law I cannot be your driver. I will arrange for our private limo or taxi.

On this tour you will see the major sights in Tromsø's downtown and harbour area. Depending on the weather we might take a little tour to our famous beach or we might drive to the mainland to enjoy the view from the Arctic Cathedral to the island. Get the feel of how people lived and survived in the arctic in earlier times, explore how we live and thrive today. Discover how this cultural heritage still influences our culture and how we have incorporated it into our way of being. At the same time find out how our modern life is today and learn about our preferred leisure activities. We'll visit the the harbour, see Tromsø's main street, Storgata and pass by our picturesque main squares. We will enjoy the mixture of traditional wooden architecture and modern design and I will show you many "northernmosts of the world". Let yourself be surprised by some of the local habits and join me to my "hidden gems".
These are some of the sights we will see: •the harbour, the old connection to the islands and the modern connection to the world •the Arctic triangle with the explorer monument, the old seal hunting vessel, the experience centre Polaria and the Polar Research Institute •the Mack brewery, the northernmost brewery in the world with the oldest pub in town •the protestant cathedral (the northernmost in the world) •the main street/ pedestrian zone with picturesque wooden houses and modern shops •the catholic cathedral (the northernmost in the world) •the main square, our meeting place in summer and in winter •Skansen, the old fortress Note: We might either visit the Polar museum with our arctic history or the Arctic Cathedral, our most famous landmark. The itinerary can be customized according to your interests and wishes.
