The casino open its doors to you, and to visit the old city by night is quite simply. . . fantastic! drive through the french riviera by night and enjoy the views from the middle corniche; passing by the village of Eze and admire the view from the 'vista Palace' overlooking the lights of Monaco. Driving by the 'rock' , where you 'll see the prince's palace, the old town, the cathedral (closed on nigh) before getting to the heart of the luxury and the glamour in Monte Carlo; have a meal in one of the numerous restaurants and maybe try your luck on the historical casino. Jacques was a terrific guide. He is a bit eccentric but it seemed he knows everybody in Monaco from the princesses of Monaco, to the palace guards, to the waiters in restaurants. We had a very enjoyable time with him exploring the tiny kingdom. Our evening concluded by a visit to what brings everyone here - the casino. It's lavishness and luxury are quite unimaginable and it is a great to people watch, look at expensive autos in the parking lot, and lose money in the slots or at the tables.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening visit to Monte Carlo with Jacques. He is a very fascinating fellow and well versed in local happenings. He is an art history professor at the University, involved in the Canne Film Festival, and also has been on set in Hollywood consulting on a film or two! He took us from Nice to beautiful panoramic overlooks and was very patient with our ever changing itinerary once in Monte Carlo. Please look him up when you are in the area! 5 stars from our group of 4!
8 of us went from St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to Monaco for an evening. Jacques took us on a (custom) tour of Eze and stopped so we could take photos at a scenic overlook of Monaco, along the Formula 1 circuit, past the Oceanographic Institute, the Palace, the Opera House, then dinner in the port to see the gorgeous yachts, ending with the Monte Carlo Casino. Jacques was fantastic - so interesting and knowledgeable! We loved our night - it was one of the best of our trip. Jacques was a superstar. A++++ Service!
