Get away from the hustle & bustle hectic lifestyle of Georgetown. . . . and come with me to explore the laid back tranquil town of Balik Pulau ( the town " behind the island" ). A fishing village that goes about life following the cycle of returning sampans ( little motorised wooden boat ), the fruits & spices orchards that dots the beautiful hills & plains planted with paddies shimmering in yellow during harvesting & refreshing green during planting- growing season, to the traditional stilted Malay houses besides a myriads of yummy mouth watering local street food to boot. Or escape to the mangrove forest to catch a glimpse of the denizens there & learn about the many usage of mangrove timbers. Have a photo taken with the artisans of traditional cottage industry or the street arts at Balik Pulau town ( yup, the trend managed to spread its wing to this sleepy hollow ). . . . there is something for everybody here away from the hustle & bustle of Georgetown city. Where time seems to standstill.
Your Penang tour itinerary
8am : pick up from hotel 9. 15am : arrived at B. Pulau & collect our rented bicycles. 9. 30am : start cycling tour into paddy fields, mangrove forest reserves, Malay Villages, fruit orchards. 11. 30am : start cycling back to Starting point. 12noon : visit local cottage industry - traditional rice face powder maker. 12. 15pm : visit nearby fishing villages. 12. 45pm : proceed to hv local street food lunch & drinks. 1. 10pm : leaving Balik Pulau for Georgetown & drop off at hotel. End of a happy tour to the off beaten track of Penang ( aka The Pearl of The Orient ).
