Charming Orang Utan Island + Penang City Tour (Full-Day by SUV)

We had a wonderful tour! We were 4 adults and Lawrence had shown us a wonderful day at the sanctuary as well as the city. He explained many aspects of local life. We had a wonderful lunch in a local cafe he recommended. His driving and drop off points were so convenient. We had wonderful rides in trishaws, each of us in our own trishaw. We were told we had to pay $2 per person in cash to the trishaw drivers which we did prior to the rides. At the end of the day tour, we were told that we also owed Lawrence an additional $60 total for the four 15 minute rides. This seemed quite overpriced compared to what I've read online about pricing.

We had an excellent tour with Lawrence. He was very knowledgeable about area .his car was extremely comfortable for 4 adults. When we got to the Orangutan island he told us all there names and give us a really good talk on them. We had some really good conversation with him in the car on the way there and back and felt very much like we wher haveing a day out with a friend ..it was great fun. OUTSTANDING!!!!! What an incredible day with our tour guide Lawrence. We were picked up by Lawrence at our hotel, which not all other tour companies offer, this was an added bonus as were quite far from the city centre! We chatted & got our itinerary in order straight away & no stone was left unturned. The added bonus going with Lawrence is that he knew all the Orang Utan's personally. They all reacted when they saw him coming and it was so wonderful to see the mutual respect that they had for each other. Lawrence's knowledge is vast & there wasn't a question that went unanswered. With all the extra curricular activities we chose, Lawrence was front and centre organising it all making sure everything ran smoothly, and it did. Lawrence also recommended a local place to eat lunch with spectacular food!!! Incredible tour made only possible with Lawrence at the helm. Thank you, Myk & Jase

Lawrence met us at the Penang port and we made great time to the orangutan island. Because we were a bit early he showed us an arrowana fish store and told us about the grading (=pricing) of the fish. At the island we got on a small but faster boat and he explained to us everything he knows about the orangutans and showed us how the orangutan can use a stick to get peanuts and fruit that fell outside the enclosure demonstrating that the animal can use tools, Lawrence is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the orangutans as well as many subjects. Later he took us to the Penang hills and we rode on the funicular in the vip line. With a bit of time left he also took us to the Chu Jetty and had time to go see the bicycle mural. Our driver was very nice and he was courteous to other drivers. All in all, Lawrence and the driver provided us a superb and wonderful experience.
