Hello, my name is Asami, and I am a cultural guide based in the beautiful Lake Biwa region of Shiga, just north of Kyoto. I grew up in Nagoya and later moved to a small temple town after getting married. My husband is the head priest of a Buddhist temple that has been maintained by his family for more than 650 years. Your Tsuruga tour itinerary
Meet me at Tsuruga Station. Together, we will take a local train for about 20 minutes to Kinomoto Station, then continue by car through the rural Lake Biwa region. ☆Temple Experience☆ Visit a peaceful 650-year-old temple and interact with a local Buddhist priest while learning about Japanese spirituality and temple life. (Approx. 1.5 hours) ☆Admire the Panoramic View of Japan’s Largest Lake☆ Ride the Shizugatake Lift to enjoy panoramic views over Lake Biwa and Lake Yogo. *From December to mid-April, the lift does not operate. During this period, I will instead take you to a beautiful lakeside café with Lake Biwa views.* ☆ Local Lunch & Historic Town Walk☆ Enjoy lunch at a locally loved restaurant before exploring the historic post town of Kinomoto. ☆Sake Tasting Visit one of Japan’s oldest sake breweries and taste local sake, including rare mulberry sake. If available, you may also tour the brewery. The tour ends at Kinomoto Station.

Meet meat the local train gates inside JR Tsuruga Station. Take 20 min. local train trip to Kinomoto Sta. with me. The train is JR Hokuriku line for Maibara and the fee is 420 yen. For the travelers who come from Osaka or Kyoto by bullet train, I will meet you at the ticket gate to the local train in JR Maibara Sta. Take 30 min local train trip to Kinomoto Sta. with me.
