Hi. I'm Michi. I'm a National Licensed tour guide in English. I would like to introduce many faces and charms of Japan and make your stay in Japan more fascinating and satisfying. I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first English tour was as a volunteer guide for visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. I spent my life in Hiroshima except for 6 years; 1 year in the UK when I was a student and 5 years working in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period I have enjoyed meeting and talking with people from different cultural backgrounds. These experiences encouraged me to be a licensed tour guide. In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites: the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima. I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud. I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. There we can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc... I am also an official 'A-bomb legacy successor' designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors' experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official 'A-bomb Legacy Successors.' It is possible to include my lecture in my tour. It would be appreciated if you could let me know BEFORE your booking. Let me support your stay in Japan and I look forward to showing you the best of Japan! Hope to see you soon! Itsukushima (or Miyajima) is one of the three scenic locations in Japan. It is a World Heritage island that has been worshiped as a sacred island since ancient times. In Miyajima you can find a unique culture created by a synthesis of Buddhism and Shintoism by combining the two religions. Only a one-hour journey from the busy Hiroshima downtown area, we can reach a small cozy Japanese town, where you will meet a unique history, culture, and nature. Wild deer always welcome you! The floating torii gate is a symbol of Hiroshima, that you cannot miss! We will visit the Itukushima Shrine and the great torii gate, the major attractions of Miyajima island in a half day.
Great Day ! We saw everything we wanted and more. Highly recommend .
Michi was wonderfully helpful! First, she recommended we reverse the order of the 2 tours we had booked so that we could visit Mijajima Island when it was NOT raining. She got us there efficiently and was very informative, even including a simple comparison of the timeliness of Shintoism, Buddhism, and Christianity in Japan. She was very sweet and easy to be with.
Michi was very helpful in answering all my queries before and during the tour. She is also very knowledgable about the place. She kindly picked us up at our hotel in Hiroshima and accompanied in taking the train and ferry. This was very helpful since I was not familiar with the place. I would request her again if I need a guide in Hiroshima.
My husband and I hired Michiru for two days while we were in Hiroshima. She took us around Hiroshima on the first day and she took us to the island of Miyajima the second day. Wow. Hiroshima was a somber experience, but very much worth a visit. The second day we reached Miyajima by train and then by ferry. This island is famous for its giant torii gate in the water. Definitely worth a visit! We enjoyed our visits to Hiroshima and Miyajima and recommend Michiru as your guide!
Michi accommodated our schedule, and took time to answer our questions. She gave us a historical and current perspectives as E waked around the town. The tour was wonderful.
We had an absolutely lovely day with Michi! She was really knowledgable about Miyajima and also Hiroshima. She showed us some great sights on the island and her English is absolutely fantastic! We only booked a half day tour but we wanted to stay on the island a little longer so Michi showed us how to get the cable car up to the top - she escorted us to the bus and waited for us to depart which was a really nice touch! We would highly recommend this tour!
