It's the home of Red-crowned Cranes, once in the brick of extinction and also of winter Northern country wildlife like Ezo Shika deer, White tailed Eagle, Red foxes and the cute snow ball like long tailed tit (Shimaenaga) I especially enjoy doing this tour because, along with looking for cranes, I will take you to some hidden spots very few people know, which makes this tour Unique!

We had a great time with Fredi. He communicated well with us before the trip, picked us up promptly at the dock, drove out into the wetlands area and seemed very knowledgeable about where to find the red crested crane as well as other animals in the area. We saw 40 or 50 crane eating in a field, as well as some flying overhead and some very close!!. We also walked through thr on to the wetlands and were able to see

Absolutely fabulous tour. Fredric communicated with us before our tour, and was waiting outside the cruise ship when we arrived. He had extensive knowledge of the marsh inhabitants, and ensured we had the opportunity to see as many of its inhabitants as possible. Took us to a great local restaurant for lunch. We enjoyed an informative and interesting visit to the Kushiro wetlands and former Ainu village. Fredi pointed out wildlife along the wetlands walk and used his recording of birds to attract the attention of other birds - very useful technique. He also pointed out many plants along our walk. Fredi brought us to a former Ainu village that isn’t well-known among local guides. His knowledge of the site and construction techniques made this side-visit worthwhile.
