Hello, my name is Matteo, I am a native Sardinian and I've lived most of my life on this beautiful island, except for a couple of years in London and 6 months in Australia and France. I've also worked (as a civilian) for more than 8 years in an important international NATO base in the south of Sardinia. I have a Master's degree in foreign languages (English and French) but at the university, I've also studied the Sardinian language, Sardinian history, and traditions. I've also attended many courses in Sardinian Archeology, due to the vast number of prehistoric monuments we have in the island. Sardinia sometimes is compared to a continent, for its variety of landscapes, cultures, languages, and traditions. I would be delighted to present you my island in all its diversities and originality. We Sardinians love our island, we consider it as a very beautiful, special, and fascinating island and we are ready to show you around and demonstrate that our love is fully justified. On request, I can organize excursions with buses of 50 seats, boats, yachts, and helicopters. Excursions on the occasion of special events: religious, sporting, and local festivals. Overview of your Palau tour
La Maddalena is the name of the principal island of an archipelago off the north-eastern tip of Sardinia. The archipelago is also known as La Maddalena, and consists of over sixty islands, islets and rocks. In the past the islands have been important strategic naval and military bases; now they are an attractive and fairly low-key holiday destination. The most famous attractions are the beautiful unspoiled beaches, the blue seas and the final home of Italian hero Giuseppe Garibaldi, on the island of Caprera which is united to the main island through a long bridge. La Maddalena is reached by frequent car ferries from the port town of Palau, a journey which takes just twenty minutes. The islands are dotted with old military fortifications and some of these would make interesting sites to visit. The islands' naval history encompasses a proud defeat of a French assault led by Bonaparte in 1793, a lengthy offshore sojourn by Nelson's fleet just before its depart to Trafalgar, and a US naval base, closed in 2008.

Matteo was absolutely fantastic!! We had excellent communication prior to the tour and he was right where and when he was supposed to be to meet us in his very comfortable new van. He is absolutely charming and a wealth on information about the area - a lot of fun stories and so easy to understand. He took excellent care of my husband, who is having knee problems and was very kind and patient - so appreciated! He took us to a fabulous beachfront restaurant for lunch - just what I was hoping for - it couldn't have been any better! We so enjoyed beautiful La Maddalena and feel we saw much more than the average tour. I can't recommend Matteo highly enough - if you are visiting Olbia or anywhere in northern Sardinia, you really should hire him for a fantastic day!! One of the best guides we've ever had.

Very interesting tour, given the many visited places (La Maddalena, Caprera, North of Sardignia), the Matteo's wide knowledge and the funny stories shared by Matteo. When we tried to visit a specific beach and it was not possible, due to access restrictions, Matteo found an alternative (visit to Porto Rafael and Porto Cervo), which was very much appreciated. Your Palau tour itinerary
The tour starts in any hotel / residence around Olbia or the Gallura province ( Costa Smeralda, Portorotondo, San Teodoro, etc. ) where I will pick you up, and then we reach the port of Palau, where we buy the tickets to take the ferry boat to the island of La Maddalena. There with my car will visit all major beaches and panoramic spots of the island, including the Trinity Church, the first church built in La Maddalena by Corsican shepherds. After we'll go down to cross the bridge of La Moneta and reach the island of Caprera, where, beside the very beautiful beaches and transparent waters, we can see the old military buildings of the Italian navy.
