Let me look after you. I promise you a MEMORABLE TOUR from Galway, Mayo and Sigo. First of all thank you for checking my profile! I would love to share my passion for Ireland with you if you decide to take one of my tours. I have been guiding for more than ten years and due to my curiosity, I have an extensive, intense, and profound knowledge of Ireland. I use the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi: "Live like you are going to die tomorrow and learn like you are going to live forever". That's how I constantly keep my tours to a 'gold' standard. I do not regard tourist guiding as work, it's just travelling around my wonderful country with friends, telling stories, singing songs and having fun. I'm not just a tourist guide, I'm an entertainer, a historian and an author. Your day will 'fly by' as you hear stories of Stone Age farmers, St Patrick, The Children of Lir, Rebellion against the British, the Great Famine, the Wild Atlantic Way and why we drive on the 'correct' side of the road. Maybe you might also want to hear about Brexit! Whether it's history, legends or politics I can bring them all alive for you. Of course the most magical thing about Ireland is the magnificent scenery. The landscapes and seascapes are constantly changing on tour and there will be lots of photo-stops along the way. If you want great photos, I will show you where the best shots can be taken. While I have a number of tour options listed, they are not 'set in stone' If you have an item or area of special interest I can plan that for you to ensure that the tour SUITS YOUR NEEDS. Our national poet W. B. Yeats once said, 'Education is not the filling of a bucket, it's the lighting of a fire'. I hope that I can 'light a fire' for Ireland in your hearts that will make you want to return again and again. Thank you for reading all of this. Hopefully it was not too long-winded and I will get to meet you when you come on tour with me. William Butler Yeats won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. His mother came from County Sligo. He spent a lot of his childhood and ultimately requested, in one of his poems, to be buried there. While this tour highlights locations associated with the poet, there is so much more to see. The tour includes legends of Irish queens, stories of stone age farmers, a romantic castle and a sad assassination. A recitation of one of Yeats' poems is included for your entertainment. Magnificent mountains and delightful dales created during the ice age contrast with beautiful beaches and super sea views along the Wild Atlantic Way. Lots of opportunities for fantastic photographs and a stop for a tasty lunch. All in all, a great day tour with lots of variety for the culturally curious.
Our first stop on the tour is at Carrowkeel a series of stone age tombs dating from more than 5, 000 years ago. Following from that we will visit Sligo town to hear how W B Yeats was influenced by his visits here. On our way to Lissadell House we will visit the grave of Yeats in Drumcliffe church. We will visit Streedagh Beach where you will hear stories of the Spanish Armada. The scenic fishing village of Mullaghmore is next with stories of the murder of Lord Louis Mountbatten. After lunch we will head along Lough Mervin for a visit to the gorgeous Glencar Waterfall. A stop to see the location and a recitation of Yeat's poem Lake Isle of Inishfree before returning to your hotel full of stories and anecdotes. If there are any other items of particular interest please let me know and I can include them in the itinerary.
