From a young age, I dreamed about speaking with foreigners and learning English, although I had never met anyone who spoke English and had only learned a few English words in school. When I mentioned this desire to my father, he was very surprised and said it was something I had inherited from him since he always loved languages and archaeology but never had the opportunity to study either. As I entered high school, I continued to dream about learning English and working at archaeological sites. My parents realized I would never stop dreaming about them and asked if I would want to study archaeology or tourism. When I said yes, they told me that they would sell their farm so I could study English and tourism and have the opportunities they never had. After high school, I studied tourism at a school called LICEO MAYA and later at University, learned English. I wanted to continue improving both skillsets, so I enrolled at an English school, while also studying tourism at a government institution called INTECAP. There, I gained additional knowledge and guiding skills and became certified as an official tour guide in Guatemala in 2011. I started guiding at that point and have led countless tours for groups of people from all over the world. Currently, I am tour guide number 987 in the country. Come and join me on a hike through the jungle to visit Tikal and other ancient Mayan sites. It will be an experience you won't soon forget. Remember that life is an adventure! Im a certified Local tour guide by the the Guatemalan institute of Tourism known as INGUAT with licence number #0987 and i studied tourism at the university (hospitality). No Restrictions!

In this tour as a guide we explain about Nature (Flora and Fauna), History, Archaeology and we walk about 4 hours making stops in every complex we find. this is a magical place, full of history and nature, did you know that movies like the new adventures of Tarzan was film here and that starwars episode 4 was film from top of temple 4, also tikal is the only Unesco site from all over central america to have a double title from Unesco (natural and cultural site). temple 4 and lost world piramids are my fav ones since they have the best vews. Join us for this great adventure to learn about The Maya Civilization and all they did in the heart of the Mayan world. In tikal we will see one of the highest ancient buildings of the wolrd, (72 Mts high), there are more than 4000 buildings in 576km2, such city was built since 900BC and was abandoned 850 AD, its too big that we are able to see the center of it only.
Elmer is a rockstar. He's as thoughtful with his tour itinerary as he is with the welfare of his guests. He's VERY experienced. He goes the extra mile with bringing special drinks and large umbrellas. His local knowledge and historical reference is as comprehensive as any university professor would give a class.
We were a group of 10, consisting of both students and teachers from Norway. We had a fantastic experience in Tikal with our guide Elmer. He was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and engaging. We highly recommend everyone to use Elmer as a guide. The framework for the tour was also well planned by the guide, with nice transportation and a good lunch in the park.
Absolutely amazing! Tikal was breathtaking. We went to Chichen Itza after, and Tikal was still the highlight of the trip. It was one of the best experiences of our lives, maybe even #1! We appreciated Elmer's knowledge and insight into the Maya. We are still talking about it to everyone we meet. We will definitely be back someday in the future! This guy is the best!!!
Elmer is exceptional. Extraordinary knowledge of both history and nature, combined with fluent well accented English, thoughtfulness and a sense of humor, clean& comfortable ride : Tikal itself, of course, is compelling ...where humanity has been... Go early, seriously, so many identifiable birds, monkeys..thank you Elmer.

Elmer is the best!! We could not have found a better guide to show/teach us about Tikal. Elmer was kind, considerate, and very very knowledgeable about Tikal, the Mayans, and lots more. However the best thing we can say about Elmer pertains to his passion. It was obvious he wants to be a guide, and he wants to share his knowledge and love for the area. If you ever have an opportunity to go on a tour with Elmer, do it. You will be glad you did.
ITINERARY -We'll meet you and pick you up at the airport or at your hotel in Flores or El Remate, etc. aproximately at 7. 30am. -we Arrive at Tikal National Park and begin our walk through the park visiting the most impressive sites. aproximately at 9am. - Tour ends at the parking lot and we'll head out to eat lunch at a restaurant near the park. at 1pm to 2pm aproximately. - Lunch ends and we drive to Flores to have a walk by yourself. - Arrive back in Flores to drop you at the airport or your hotel.
