Did you ever imagine how it was in the Middle Ages in the Middle East? Why imagination. . when you can see it with your own eyes and enjoy the experience of discovering old Cairo in Egypt. With a history dating back to the 14th century, the Khan El-Khalili bazaar is Cairo's signature shopping destination. It's an intoxicating warren of streets, houses, and merchants selling everything from gold and spices to hookah pipes and toy camels, not to mention the inevitable scarabs, pyramids, and belly-dancer costumes.
We had a fun afternoon with Mohamed. We had an extra afternoon before we met up with our tour group. We hired Mohamed and had a very fun afternoon. He took us to "off the path" places - including Garbage City, St. Simon Church in the Rock, the bazaar and one of the oldest coffee shops in Cairo. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We highly recommend him as a guide - you won't be disappointed!
Mohamed took us on a fascinating tour of the old shopping district, mosques and the Khan el-Khalil market. I would definitely recommend him and highly recommend having a guide to navigate this beautiful, albeit chaotic and charming part of Cairo. Thanks for a local’s perspective on things.
