Hike to Uchucay Creek

Embark on a captivating day trip to a hidden gem within Azuay province, where nature's artistry is on full display. This unique creek offers a striking contrast between arid, sun-drenched hills and the vibrant life sustained by its flowing waters. As you venture into this scenic area, you'll discover a landscape carved over millennia. The creek bed itself is a marvel, featuring dramatic, smoothly sculpted rock formations that channel the clear, refreshing water. These ancient, grey rocks twist and turn, creating natural pathways and fascinating pools, with the water often flowing through narrower, more defined channels. The surrounding hills, characteristic of Azuay's drier regions, are dotted with resilient cacti and sparse, hardy vegetation, painting a stark yet beautiful backdrop. Yet, right along the water's edge, you'll find pockets of lushness—vibrant green reeds and grasses that thrive in the creek's immediate vicinity, creating a pleasing juxtaposition.

We start in the City of Cuenca, Ecuador. Pick up at 9am from your place (hotel, Airbnb, etc) 2 hours of beautiful Drive through amazing landscapes to Uchucay Village. Hike to the Uchucay Creek for one and a half hour. In the creek area we'll enjoy nature, it's possible to swim in the mountain river, eat some snacks, then hike back to the vehicle. In the way back to Cuenca we will enjoy a tasty meal in one of the typical restaurants of the area. Drive back to Cuenca Arrival time in Cuenca 4 pm approximately.
