Are you thinking about visiting Olomouc and have nobody to show you around? Do you wish to learn something more about the region and see it from a different perspective? Instead of a dense historical lecture and loads of useless information do you want to take an informal yet informative walk as if you were visiting a friend? Or, a local? Then, you are at the right place! My name is Tom. I spent my childhood under communist rule, younghood during the transition period, and adult life in what we call capitalism. Do I regret it? Not at all! I consider it a great privilege since I have had a chance to eye-witness the crucial and truly historical milestones of my country which shaped it into what it became today. It gives me a better understanding of what the country has been recently through and I like to share it with others. I became a guide immediately after I finished my classical philosophy and English and American studies (MA) at the prestigious Palacky University, the second oldest in the country. It was rather a coincidence when I gave my first 7-day tour from Vienna to Prague over two decades ago. However, I fell in love with the job immediately. It is not only about the interaction with those wonderful people from different parts of the world and their diverse cultural backgrounds, but it also makes you learn more about your own country, its history and culture and, surprisingly, makes you see it from a completely different perspective. It is like a picture you start to see in different eyes once you learn something about the painter and the circumstances under which it originated. A better understanding opens a completely new dimension behind those wonderful facades. Did you know that Lonely Planet included Olomouc in its list of 10 hidden gems in Europe? Did you know that New York Times recommended Olomouc as the best alternative to overcrowded Prague? Yes, it has not been placed on UNESCO's list of world heritage sites for nothing! As a former capital of Moravia and historically the second most important city of the country, Olomouc boasts impressive church and secular architecture, an astronomical clock, Baroque fountains, and, most importantly, the humongous Holy Trinity Column. It also offers a lot of college-town fun and great places to eat and drink. Thanks to its strategic location in the middle of Moravia, Olomouc is not only a "must-see" way station to Vienna, Krakow, and Prague, it is also a good starting point to other similarly impressive places in its vicinity. Do you want to experience the middle ages at the Bouzov Castle, enjoy a boat ride surrounded by stalagmites and stalactites in an underground grotto, learn about the 19th-century lifestyle in an open-air museum, enjoy a pleasant walk in the famous Kroměříž parks (UNESCO), take a scenic hike on a mountain ridge of the Beskyds, climb the Moravian highest mountain Praděd (4891 ft. ) via a waterfall trail, taste the famous local "smelly cheese" right in the production plant, take a stunning helicopter ride or enjoy sport shooting from Czech and Soviet guns in a shooting range? Just let me know, anything's possible Czech licensed guide; •Palacky University - MA in philosophy and English and American studies; •Basic first-aid course in accordance with the European Red Cross Guidelines; •Twenty years of experience as a guide for more than 7 companies •Driver's license B. Tours in castles, open-air museums and grottoes are always given by local guides

Olomouc is a well-hidden secret, we just do not tell about it to "anybody". We only share it with those special ones who find it themselves. You're the one! Now, since you are already here, let's take a closer look at what this gem in the heart of Moravia and a UNESCO World Heritage site actually has to offer. Same as beer is best served cold and steaks are best cooked on a charcoal grill, Olomouc is best guided by a local. Yes, indeed! In addition to all those many must-sees, we can also learn about real-life in the city. Why do students crawl through the holes of the plaque column under the cover of the night? Why snorkeling in the Arion's fountain is prohibited? Or, wanna know where can you get the best ice-cream or pizza? Interested in leisure time activities? You can learn all that and much more during our city tour!
After a pick-up, we will take a walking city tour including all the "must-see" sights as well as some of those off the beaten track: •Understand the history of architecture at the Wenceslas square •Enjoy the atmosphere of the Bishop Square •Take a stroll through the historical gardens on the ramparts •Indulge in the Baroque splendor and grandiosity of St. Michal's •learn about the Cold War as well as a mausoleum of Yugoslav soldiers from WWI; •See the country's largest organ and take a bird's eye view from the tower of St. Moritz's •Experience the special atmosphere of the Upper and Lower Squares •Keep the best for the last: the outstanding Holy Trinity Column was built to have no equal, check out whether the architect was right! This tour can be customized by adding: •Check your aiming skills using Soviet and Czech guns •Take a scenic heli ride over the city and a nearby castle; •Experience a vertigo thrill at the local "GoMonkey" center; •Take a bike ride in the vicinity or, a boat ride
