Experience the island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean, with a Bonaire Tourism Board accredited guide. Originally from Canada, I have lived on the island since 2008. I work intently to provide an outstanding tour and have been offering private tours since 2010. I speak fluent English as well as Papiamentu - Bonaire's local Antillean language. I provide an educational and historic narrative of Bonaire's origins, it's people and lifestyles. Geologically, Bonaire is partly volcanic in origin and has many interesting formations and areas to discover. Bonaire is also known as a 'Divers Paradise' - rated number one for shore diving in the Caribbean for many years. This is due in part to the efforts of our National Marine Park organization, who since 1979 strives to protect our coastal waters and it's marine life. Do you like to learn about history and travel off the trail of other tourists? Then I know the way ! Special requests for your day can be arranged, please let me know when contacting me. Come and share Bonaire with me and see for yourself. Welcome to Bonaire! Spend a half day exploring the wonders of Bonaire. You will see the beauty and nature of the island along with an accurate narrative of the islands history. You will travel in a private air conditioned vehicle. The narrative covers both the scenic and historic details of the island. Admire the azure waters along the tourist road northbound. View of the Washington Slaagbai park and Lake Gotomeer. We then drive through the oldest continuous settlement in the Dutch Caribbean - the village of Rincon, established in 1527. As we continue on past farmland we head to Seru Largu, which offers excellent views of the south of Bonaire as well as Klein Bonaire. Heading south through Kralendijk we will discuss the islands history and the early solar salt works and it's impact on the local economy.
Once you are picked up at the arranged point we will then discuss the route that we will travel. We can choose to take the Northbound route first visiting Gotomeer Lake, Rincon and the east coastline. We may also choose to visit the South route where we will see the Solar Salt flats, Slave Huts and a flamingo habitat. There will be a full interpretive of the islands history as well. I try to avoid traffic delays and may suggest taking a South island visit prior to taking the North route.
