Overview of your Veliko Tarnovo tour
Day 1: We depart from Sofia and make a 1.5-hour stop at Saeva Dupka Cave, a 3-million-year-old site known for its diverse formations and bat habitats. After exploring the cave, we continue to Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. We’ll visit Tsarevets Hill, home to the Royal Palace and Patriarch’s residence, to learn about Bulgaria’s rich history. Overnight at a family-run hotel. Day 2: After breakfast, we drive to Arbanassi village, visiting the 16th-century Church of the Nativity of Christ. Then, we head to Shipka Pass, where we stop to see the Shipka Memorial Church, a symbol of the Russo-Turkish War. Continuing to the Valley of the Thracian Kings, we visit the replica of the UNESCO-listed Kazanlak Tomb (4th century BC) to learn about Thracian culture. Lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the Damascena rose oil distillery. We return to Sofia by 6 PM.

Start driving to Saeva Dupka cave 10.30 am - Visit Saeva Dupka cave 11.45 am - resume driving from the cave to Veliko Tarnovo 1.30 pm - at our arrival in Veliko Tarnovo - lunch break 2.30 pm - Veliko Tarnovo city walk and sightseeing 3.30 pm - Visit Tzarevetz fortress hill 5.30 pm - We can check in at our hotel 6.00 pm - wine tasting at Day 2: 9.00 am - Start a short drive to Arbanassi village 9.30 am - visit to the church "Nativity of Christ" 10.30 am- drive off to Shipka mountain pass 12.00 pm - visit the Memorial Shipka church 12.30 pm - lunch break 1.30 pm - visit to the UNESCO Kazanluk tomb 2.30 pm - continue for 30 mins. to Damascena Ethnographical complex 3.00 pm - Drive back to Sofia ETA in Sofia - 5.30 - 6 pm
