Overview of your Maun tour
The areas around the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans are located in the central and eastern part of Botswana, southeast of the Okavango Delta. The Makgadikgadi and Nxai saltpans are among the largest saltpans in the world. Overall, the area of the saltpans system covers an area of over 16000 km² (Makgadikgadi means "extensive lifeless land". If you love the loneliness and silence, you can really enjoy it here and the fascinating landscape, a group of seven mighty baobab trees, the well-known Baines Baobabs, as well as a high-traffic, a waterhole that is often occupied by lions are the highlights of Nxai Pan's National Park. Makgakgadi national park forms a unity with the Nxai Pan National Park only separated by the Maun - Nata tar road from each other. In the southwest its border crosses the Ntwetwe Pan, in the west the Boteti River forms the border. And is the park you can witness Botswana's zebra and wildebeest migration to Boteti river.
