At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Nassau tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Nassau for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Snorkel at Clifton Heritage’s underwater sculpture garden to see Ocean Atlas and reef fish, then kayak in Bonefish Pond National Park’s mangroves to spot juvenile snapper and herons. Or take a private boat to Green Cay to swim near wild sea turtles and stop at Ardastra Gardens to watch the flamingo walk.

Adventure tours: Ride a speedboat to Rose Island for reef snorkelling and a beach cookout, with time for paddle boards and a short hike to a bluff with wide views. Prefer wheels? An ATV loop along West Bay Street can include quick stops at the Caves and a swim at Jaws Beach.

Getting around: Downtown and Paradise Island are walkable, and jitney buses cover main routes, but many beaches, parks, and marinas are spread out; your guide can arrange chauffeured tours or private transportation between stops.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Nassau inside and out.

Walking tours & neighbourhoods

You might want to consider a private walking tour of Nassau with a local guide. It’s a good way to get a feel for the place and see some of its more interesting neighbourhoods:

- Downtown Nassau has a certain charm, especially if you’re into history and architecture. The buildings are colourful and there's a real sense of the past. The Queen's Staircase is worth a look, and the Straw Market has its own kind of energy. It’s a place where families and different generations can find something to enjoy.

- Arawak Cay, better known as "The Fish Fry," is your go-to for an authentic Bahamian meal. It’s lively, full of locals, and the food is something worth trying. It’s a good spot if you’re after more than just a meal; a bit of local flavour and maybe a chat or two.

- Cable Beach is the place to be if you’re after a day of relaxation. Families and those who like water sports will appreciate it here. The beach is nice, perfect for a bit of snorkeling or just lying in the sun.

- The Eastern Road offers something for those who like a scenic drive with a side of culture. The colonial homes are impressive, and the ocean views are something to take in. It’s a scenic stop that adds a nice touch to your Nassau experience.

- Paradise Island might be a bit on the commercial side, but it’s hard to skip if you’re into luxury and entertainment. Resorts, casinos, and nightlife; it’s got the lot. And the beaches are not to be missed if you’re looking for both relaxation and a bit of fun.

Day trip ideas from Nassau

Use Nassau as your base and add nearby islands and historic sites to your plans, since short boat rides and quick flights make easy day trips and flexible tours possible.

Rose Island: A quick cruise from Nassau gets you to quiet beaches, clear water, and easy snorkelling over shallow reefs, so you can spend more time in the sea and less time in transit. Beach time, sea turtles, and laid-back beach bars fit a low-key day, and your tour can include extra snorkel stops if you want more time in the water.

Clifton Heritage National Park and Underwater Sculpture Garden: Walk coastal trails lined with ruins that tell Bahamian stories, then snorkel the famous Ocean Atlas sculpture just offshore, which adds a wild art twist to a reef swim. This suits you if history and nature both matter, and it keeps travel time short so you can split the day between land and sea.

Exuma Cays and Pig Beach: Head out by speedboat or a short flight for bright sandbars, reef snorkelling, and a stop to see the swimming pigs from the boat, with time left for a conch salad on a quiet cay. It’s a longer day that rewards photographers, wildlife fans, and strong swimmers, and your tour can time stops with tides for the best visibility.

Eleuthera and Harbour Island: Cross to Eleuthera for the Glass Window Bridge and Queen’s Baths, then continue to Harbour Island for its pink sand beach and pastel streets in Dunmore Town. If you like easy exploring and a mix of scenery and local food, this combo keeps the pace relaxed while still covering a lot.

Andros Island: Swap city streets for blue holes, mangrove creeks, and broad bonefishing flats, with optional snorkelling over giant coral heads on the Andros Barrier Reef when conditions line up. Nature lovers, birders, and curious first-timers get a wild, less crowded slice of The Bahamas in a single day without over-planning.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Nassau most travellers miss.
