Drive along the famous number 40 road. All the road connects the south to the north of Argentina all along the Andes range of mountains. We will jump in in between Bariloche to San Martin de los Andes along the 7 lakes. It is a magical drive, covering the north of Nahuel Huapi National Park and the south sector of Lanin National Park. Learn about the different environments you ll go through: the forest and the steppes. Marvel at the different lakes and its particular colours. See the Andes range of moutains around you all the time. Enjoy!
Georgina was excellent. She is very knowledgeable about the area, and she showed us the beauty of Patagonia during an amazing drive along this famous route. The weather was not the best, so she was very flexible to make sure we had a great experience, and we did! I highly recommend Georgina and this tour.
Georgina was an amazing guide. We spent two days with her In Bariloche and saw sites we never expected to see .not only is the lake District absolutely gorgeous, Georgina took us to a working ranch isolated in Patagonia. The family is completely self sustaining and treated us to a wonderful lunch and conversation… (Through translation.) Georgina is passionate about sharing the beauty of her Patagonia. Her English is perfect, her explanations, thorough and softly spoken. She is the best.!
Georgina was an amazing guide for our family of 6 (age range 19-80) We learned so much about the history, geography, flora and fauna from her that really enhanced our understanding of the area. She answered all of our questions about a wide variety of topics. She was lovely, funny and kind. This was so much better than the large bus tour options we were considering. Don't hesitate to reach out to her to personalize your tour, she responds quickly (she was able to get a van for us). Totally worth it!
This is a very beautiful drive. Georgina provided history and botany information that was enlightening to better enjoy the drive. We chose to take a hike to a waterfall rather than the furthest city. It was lovely and we saw and sampled a local mushroom. Georgina was a pleasure to have had as a guide and with whom to enjoy discussion.
At about 8 am we leave from Bariloche, heading North, cross the Limay river and then to the West along the North shore of lake Nahuel Huapi to reach the picturesque village of Villa La Angostura, where we make our first stop of about 1 hour long. Villa La Angostura is a small town in the Andes, very pintoresque. We can take this stop for a chance to walk through the 4 blocks along the local shops, maybe time for a coffe stop too. To then get ready to continue along the 7 lakes road. The road skirts lakes Correntoso, Ruca Malén, Portezuelo, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso and Meliquina, as well as other minor lakes, reaching thus San Martín de los Andes, located by the shore of lake Lacar. Once we arrive we will have time for lunch. After wich we can walk along the main areas of this beautifull mountian village. At about 3 pm we start our way back to Bariloche. Arriving at the hotel about 7 pm with the feeling a long road was made not only of picure stops but also about the people who live in the mountains.
