My name is Elio and I am a professional tour guide with a great passion for introducing travelers to this new and exciting destination, called Albania. 8:00 AM - Depart from your place in Tirana for Gjirokastra, which is approximately a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic. 11:00 AM - Arrive at Gjirokastra and begin your tour with a visit to the Gjirokastra Castle. Set at the highest point in the town, the castle offers a stunning view of Gjirokastra and is one of the largest fortifications in Albania. 12:30 PM - Head down into the old town to explore the ancient Ottoman-era market, the Old Bazaar, where you can browse shops selling local crafts, textiles, and jewelry. Also, grab a bite to eat for lunch at one of the local restaurants. 2:00 PM - After lunch, take a walk through the town's winding streets lined with Ottoman-era houses, including the Zekate House. Optional Visit at the Ethnographic Museum to learn about local life and history and enjoy the stunning view of the town from its rooftop. 4:00 PM - Depart from Gjirokastra and head back to Tirana. Possible short stops on the way.
