Hi! You are seeing this profile mainly because I love my country and I really enjoy tour-guiding. I am an Albanian, born and raised in Tirana, who has lived through the dramatic changes of the Albanian capital in the past 36 years. Although I have traveled extensively in my adult years, I am always thrilled to come back to my home-city. As the saying goes, "East or West, home is the best". If you choose to travel Albania with me, you will find out that I am passionate about the stories behind every street or corner, buildings and ruins, old neighborhoods or skyscrapers, traditional cuisine and fancy restaurants. I am fascinated by the ancient history of my country, enriched by its culture and traditions, challenged by the dynamics and changes, forever in love with its attractions and thrilled to be able to show you around. I have been working as a full time tour guide since 2008 and it seems like I am going to be doing this for many years to come. Durres the city with a history of over 2500 years
Overview of your Durres tour
I will take you on a 4 hour walking tour of the downtown core of Durres. This will help orient you and show you some of the unique places and sites of the city. The city has a rich history that stretches over 2500 years and still preserves some fascinating attractions to visit. Within the downtown area we will visit the archeological museum, where I will give you a thorough overview of the history of the city and from there we shall walk to the ruins of the Roman amphitheater, Roman forum, Byzantine fortifications and the center of the new town. After these visits we shall stop at one of the viewpoints of the city, overlooking the entire bay and port of Durres where we shall have some coffee, refreshments or Italian style gelato, while we discuss the economical, social and cultural life of the city. Towards the end of the tour we shall visit some more landmarks, the promenade, Venetian Tower, Bank of Albania and Orthodox church. (The Bank of Albania can only be seen from the outside)
