I'm friendly, engaging, well traveled and broad minded. I'm a retired teacher with many years in the classroom and I love bringing history to life. History is all about stories and people love stories, even reluctant teenagers. I won't just take you to sites but guide you round them stone by stone. I won't just take you to museums but guide you round them exhibit by exhibit. I won't just drive you from place to place but explain why the scenery is as it is and what it was like 2000 years ago. You haven't gone to the beach. You're interested in culture, civilization and comprehension. You don't just want to know about life in the past, you want to understand it. Why did Hadrian put a wall half way up the island? Why did the cathedral builders begin a project they knew they would never live to see finished? Why was the border region between England and Scotland a sea of lawless bandits for 300 years? If you're interested in history we'll have lots to talk about. I have a BA in History and English and PGCE in teaching. Since retiring (relatively early) I've basically spent the last 5 years continuing to teach but without the marking. I qualified in first aid and have a private hire taxi licence. No restrictions apply to my tours
