The Top 10 Places Americans Plan to Travel in 2021

We recently surveyed our US travelers to take the pulse of their travel hopes, plans and worries for 2021. With nearly 1000 responses, the results gave us a useful glimpse at how people are feeling about travel as we get close to the end of a tumultuous year! So what did we learn?

➢ Just over half of people surveyed are actively planning an international trip in 2021.

➢ More than half of people are more likely to book a private tour now than before, and see it as a safer way to travel.

➢ A fully flexible cancellation policy is essential in order for people to feel confident booking travel for next year.

Basically, we learned that people want to travel as soon as borders open and it’s safe to do so, and they believe using a private tour company with a robust, flexible cancellation policy will be the best way to explore safely.

In addition to getting a better understanding of when people will be traveling, we of course also want to know where they’re planning and dreaming of! We’re all doing a good job right now of staying close to home and discovering new experiences in our own backyards. But once borders re-open, where’s the first place people want to travel? Overwhelmingly, it looks like Europe. Both our survey and our recent bookings data show us these are the top 10 destinations Americans want to go in 2021:
