My name is Tom, I am a private tour guide offering you tailored tours in Taiwan. For example, I have accesses to an old Japanese mariner that did shoot at Allied troops in Saipan in WWII (no more, this old soldier passed away in 2021), a hearty aboriginal youth brewing cups of coffee who descends from a head-hunting clan, a manager of an outdoor traditional opera troupe who would allow my tours to be costumed and get on the stage to perform to please a local goddess on her birthday…. Visit Taiwan's largest lake at the geographic center of Taiwan Island. The aboriginal Thao tribe, many hiking trails, tea plantation, The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village theme park (accessible by rope-way gondola) are some attractions found in Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area.
Taiwan is a big country in a small space. It’s the Britain of my increasingly troubled part of the world. Layers of history, ancient and modern. Tom knows it all. He is 100% legit, authentic, fun, just awesome. My mother really wanted to see Sun Moon Lake which – as a day trip from Taipei – was mental, but he prepared a trip for her, and I went along. Best day trip ever. Tom – I hope you got over all that driving! And thank you for taking such care with mum.
Tom guided our family group on a day trip to Sun Moon Lake with stops at the Assam Tea Plantation, the Chapel, a temple, and the aboriginal village. The information he shared was entertaining and informative. Our group greatly appreciated Tom's story telling style and his flexibility. The vehicle was very comfortable and we had a relaxing enjoyable day. It was a highlight of our three week Asia visit.
Tom did a very nice job. He was flexible and communicative in setting up the half day tour and was responsive to our requests during the tour to do more or less.
Trying hard to make amends to look for alternative site for visit when timing and traffic conditions do not allow visit to original venue.
Our family of 5 toured with Tom to Sun Moon Lake and surrounding areas. The experience was simply amazing and I highly recommend Tom as your guide. He is very knowledgeable of Taiwan in general with plenty of interesting facts to share at every location, a very safe driver, and is sensitive to the needs of his guests -an all-around perfect Taiwan tour guide! Plus, he is fluent in English and the local languages which I believe made a difference in access and freedom in movement.
