Born and raised in Lisbon, "the 7 hills city", I moved to romantic Sintra later, and you're now one step closer to knowing why. In my teens, I already loved coordinating radical sports groups and promoting events. I did social and political surveys across the country on my school holidays and I think this was a cauldron of experiences and emotions that led to me truly connecting with people today. I got my degree in Tourism and Leisure Management, specializing in Cuisine. Regardless, I quickly realized that my preferred focus would be on connecting with people rather than with friendly lobsters. After leaving several experiences as a cook and restaurant manager, I realized that the overall answer laid in sharing emotions through food and guided tours, which would be the best way for me to express myself. At the moment it's been 10 years and I still love what I do, and to share a little secret between us, I don't even feel like I'm working. I like to think I'm having a fantastic day among friends. I consider myself a person of easy laughter, cordial and professional. I really love meeting people, sharing experiences and learning about culture. I'm waiting for you here to show you this incredible Mediterranean rectangle where I was born! Degree in Tourism and Leisure Management 8 years of experience in and Events Organization 13 years of experience guiding. Licensed Tourist Agent 24/7 I am not able to guide you inside of some of the historical monuments.

Overview of your Lisbon tour

Welcome to Sintra, landmark of Romanticism. This one of a kind place happens to be the first in the world whose "cultural landscape" was registered as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site due to its outstanding universal value. Once we get to the dazzling historical centre, you'll discover the charms of a village that inspired much poetry and enthralled kings. The wow factor, Quinta da Regaleira is a fusion of neo-Gothic & eccentric styles that'll fascinate you with its religious mysticism and occult orders. Visit the bewitching Sintra town, with its idyllic castles before heading down to the shore, where we'll marvel at Cabo da Roca—Europe's westernmost point "finisterre", or "end of the earth". In the majestic region of Lisbon's southwest point, we'll encounter the quaint seaside villages of Cascais & Estoril, where in the old days, the European nobility installed their "small" summer chalets. As a Local Guide I might not guide the party inside some monuments.

We had a wonderful trip with Miguel! He is amazingly flexible and took us to lunch at an amazing 3rd generation family restaurant/ winery for a traditional Portuguese lunch. He is a terrific guide and we look forward to book additional trips with him when we come back in May. Thank you Miguel!

We were met promptly by Miguel, who went over the day's itinerary. We headed out to Sintra first and visited the gardens and the interior. (We were moving pretty fast through the castle so know that you will have to decide where to spend your time. We got a glimpse of the long lines at Quinta da Regaleira and opted to continue on to the Montserrate Palace , where we wandered the gardens (the best part of that stop) and toured the Palace, which is a lovely example of the Morrish influences. We saw Pena Palace through the very dense fog and continued onto the western most point. Because of the inclement weather, we chose to move on to a lovely lunch at a local ("secret") establishment. We continued on to Cascais, to see how the other half lives. Again, weather was iffy, so we chose to not spend much time there. We returned to Lisbon without incident. I would book with Miguel again.

I wish there were more stars to give this tour and Miguel! The sights and commentary were great. I have mobility issues and Miguel totally understood my capabilities. He adjusted the tour so it fit me perfectly. Lunch was amazing. The food, the setting, the presentation, the staff at the restaurant were all great. I give this guide and tour my highest recommendation!

Miguel was a wonderful tour guide for our day visit to Sintra and the west coast, Cascais and Cabo da Roca. He is very personable, and fun to travel with. He shared details of the history and stories about the region that made the visit even more enjoyable. Also we had fun talking about Portuguese food and learned some good cooking tips. He arranged a seafood lunch at a restaurant with a beautiful view on the beach near Cascais that was delicious.
