An absolutely fabulous day with a lovely guide. Trekked to his village below Sarangkot where Aabiskar is pioneering a sustainable farming and tourism model. His aunt made us lemongrass and honey tea in a charming community cafe. We then had beautiful organic homegrown lunch of Dahl baht. Aabiskar is very keen on maintaining the simple rural lifestyle in the villages. We never imagined we could get so close to a hive peacefully! He then made us coffee, which was delicious. What a science!!! We trekked back down, perfect timing got back just before dark! Such a lovely guy, lovely family, great tourism and sustainable farming model! If anyone wants to come to Nepal and have an authentic experience with great people, I can thoroughly recommend this guy. You would be in very good hands! A thoroughly amazing wholesome organic and fascinating day.

Pokhara is the gateway to the world-famous Annapurna Conservation area. My favorite travel destination within Nepal is the Annapurna Conservation region, Upper Mustang ( Kingdom of Lo), Manaslu region, Langtang region, beautiful Chitwan National Park, and Bardiya National Park. I also enjoyed traveling ' ISLE OF WIGHT ' island near the English channel In 2015. My bucket list travel destination is a wildlife safari tour to African National parks. Come on a journey to the beautiful village of Sarangkot Pandeli and meet small local Arabica coffee farmers. This experience covers most stages of organic coffee farming and processing method from the seed germination process to farming, harvesting, processing, and roasting. Learn more about the community-focused non-profit organization called Sharing Seeds which is helping local farmers by providing training and sharing updated knowledge required in coffee farming and its challenges to operate sustainably. Through the help of Sharing Seeds, local small coffee farmers are getting 30% more money for their coffee cherries compared to other collectors - this is of course hugely motivating farmers to adopt coffee farming on their barren land. The offered tour is an in-depth experience of coffee farming, and you will get an insight into the important environmental, economic, and social benefits of Arabica coffee farming. I would call this short expedition to an organic coffee farm one of the best investments you can make for a local business. Aabiskar is a very intelligent person who has studied abroad and is now applying his experience back in his native village. Together with his family and friends, he devotes himself fully to coffee, and already in the starting conditions, a clear vision and effort to do everything ecologically can be seen. Diversity and local organic production is now very important for Nepal.
It was a fabulous experience. Aabiskar is very knowledgeable and is passionate about the coffee project and the area. We had a good look at everything and a great lunch and then we did the hike down, which I had requested and which Aabiskar was happy to accommodate. We talked about so many things, not just coffee but honey, vegetables, pickle making, sustainable and community tourism and I learned a lot. I wish him continued success with all the plans he has.
Your Pokhara tour itinerary
We will start the hike following the shore of Phewa Lake. Fisherman at beautiful Phewa Lake, Rice terraces, Paragliders above the blue sky, and an uphill hike up to the Pandeli Village through the community forest for another 2 hours is a very active and refreshing journey. The community of coffee farmers will warmly welcome you and you start discovering the local village and surrounding coffee farms on foot. A local NPO, Sharing Seeds, initiated several community-based projects like organic Arabica coffee farming, bee farming, and a women's cooperative producing local agriculture products.
