My name is Ahmed, and I'm a Berber native of the desert south east of Morocco. I was born and raised in a small village in the desert. My family were nomads, but when the oldest of my brothers reached school age, they decide to settle in that village for the reason of being in school. I started guiding tourists in my desert when I was a little boy and upon early adulthood, after my primary school finished, I moved to the nearest big town to continue my schooling. I got my baccalaureate degree and 2 years of Tourism Professional school to become a licensed guide. I'm Certificated as a tour guide by the Ouarzazate Tourism Institute for guides training. After my training finished, I started as a tour guide in Morocco with clients of different agencies for several years. Now, its with great pleasure that I'm with Toursbylocals Team. My interest is to show and share with my clients Morocco's Life style, Nomad Berber life, Culture and Traditions and Berber Music. Your journey begins with a scenic drive into the Imlil Valley, where you’ll set off on a guided walk through traditional villages surrounded by orchards of walnut, cherry, and apple trees. Follow mountain paths to a refreshing waterfall before continuing your hike up to the village of Armed (1,900m). Here you’ll be welcomed into a Berber family home to enjoy traditional mint tea and learn about their lifestyle, culture, and mountain traditions. Afterward, enjoy a delicious homemade lunch at a guesthouse with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and Mount Toubkal—the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m. Descend along the western route overlooking the Ait Mizane Valley, passing ancient terraced fields and several picturesque villages before your return drive to Marrakech.
Your Marrakech tour itinerary
Your day starts with a 9:00 AM pickup from your hotel in Marrakech and a scenic drive through the Ghighaya Valley, Moulay Brahim gorges, and Asni, known for its Saturday market. Continue past terraced fields and orchards to reach Imlil village (1,740 m). From here, walk through Berber villages, enjoying views of the valley and a stop at a small waterfall. Continue to Armed village (1,900 m) to visit a Berber family for traditional mint tea before enjoying a homemade lunch at a guesthouse overlooking the mountains. After lunch, take a one-hour walk back down to Imlil, where your driver will be waiting. Return to Marrakech around 5:30 PM.
