I am by profession an opera singer, but I am also an experienced tour guide. I live in Italy with my Dutch husband since 25 years and we have founded a music association which organizes concerts, operas and other cultural events. I love the area where we live. It's just north of Rome and very near to Tuscany and Umbria. It is very green and full of history. I have worked for the Sunterra resort and Diamond resort for years doing tours with concerts and an evening operashow which has won the best price in entertainment. Living in a beautiful place in Vetralla has given me the opportunity to share the historical beauty with travellers from all over the world. Every year I host groups from the Chigaco university for dinners with music.

Overview of your Viterbo tour

Viterbo is a magnificent medieval town but largely ignored by mass tourism. Its only fault is that it lies between two of the best-known tourist destinations in the world, Rome and Florence. This calm and rich town can claim to have been a time ago at the centre of the world when the popes were residing there. After a pleasant walk and a stop for a cappuccino, we will visit Europe's best-preserved medieval quarters and the imposing papal residence. After a stroll in the nearby Villa Lante renaissance gardens with its joyous fountains, we can have lunch in one of my favourite local restaurants. After this leisure stop, our journey proceeds to the splendid Farnese palace on the slopes of the green Cimini hills. This imposing castle was transformed by an eighteen-year-old cardinal into a renaissance luxury residence for popes and princes. We will make a lovely day together!

Susanna is one of the best tour guides. This is our second tour with her and I hope it will not be our last. It is so much fun to leave the hustle and crowds of Rome behind and explore the area around Civitavecchia It is full of history and no crowds. There were so many wonderful moments on this tour but one of my favorites was standing in the acoustically perfect room in Palazzo Farnese and Susanna to sing some beautiful opera. It makes the soul melt and the heart smile. Thank you Susanna for a wonderful day!

A Masterclass in History and Culture with Susanna Our day exploring Viterbo, Sutri, Caprarola, and Vetralla was nothing short of extraordinary. If you are looking for a guide who can bridge the gap between ancient history and modern culture with effortless grace, Susanna is in a league of her own. From the moment we met, Susanna proved to be a wonderfully engaging, funny, and sophisticated companion. Her intelligence is matched only by her wit, making every moment of the tour both enlightening and genuinely enjoyable. The itinerary she curated was spectacular: Caprarola: Touring the "mini Vatican" (Villa Farnese) was a revelation. Susanna’s architectural and historical insights made the scale and grandeur of the site truly understandable. Sutri: Walking along the ancient Roman road and exploring the Etruscan ruins was a hauntingly beautiful experience. Susanna brought the mysteries of the Etruscan civilization to life, making the ancient stones tell their story. Viterbo: Wandering through the historical center of the "City of the Popes," we felt immersed in the medieval atmosphere thanks to her deep local knowledge. The highlight of our day, however, was a truly personal touch. Susanna introduced us to Opera Extravaganza, her opera troupe based in Vetralla. Experiencing her passion for the arts and seeing that level of cultural sophistication firsthand was a delight we hadn't expected. It was a beautiful reminder of the living culture that thrives in these historic Italian towns. Susanna didn't just show us sights; she shared the heart and soul of the region with us. We cannot recommend her highly enough for a truly "extravagant" and intelligent day in Italy!

My wife and I had a wonderful day with Susanna exploring Viterbo and the surrounding area. She had valuable insight into the rich history and culture of the Tuscia area. She took us to a lovely restaurant for lunch and drove us in her new car. Villa Farnese was amazing.

Wow, this tour was fantastic. We were brought to charming medieval towns and spend the day exploring palaces and gardens. The frescoes and sculptures were amazing and reviled those in Rome. Susanna was was efficient and showed us a lot while making it relaxing. We would certainly use Susanna again.

My wife and I arrived at Civitavecchia and were greeted by Susanna our tour guide, on time. The plan was to explore “forgotten” medieval towns north, as the city of Rome was exceptionally crowded for the funeral and conclave of Pope Francis. Susanna was a fountain of knowledge in every town we visited. We learned about the Etruscan’s who originally occupied the area thousands of years ago, followed by Romans and the Renaissance. She brought her stories to life by stopping at a little known archaeological site where we went inside an Etruscan tomb from 500bc. Incredible experience. Susanna was personable and couldn’t have been more accommodating to our needs as seniors with physical limitations. We stopped for a magnificent lakeside lunch on Lago Di Vico. This was our favorite tour and with Susanna’s guidance exceeded all of our expectations. We highly recommend a tour with Susanna!!!

Susannah was an excellent tour guide! She was prepared and knew a lot about the history of the area and the places we visited. We enjoyed spending the day with her and learning more about this area of Italy.
