I am by profession an opera singer, but I am also an experienced tour guide. It's just north of Rome and very near to Tuscany and Umbria. It is very green and full of history. Living in a beautiful place in Vetralla has given me the opportunity to share the historical beauty with travellers from all over the world. Bolsena lake-Civita di Bagnoreggio- tour with a private guide!
Overview of your Viterbo tour
We will start this private day-tour at Bolsena, a charming town on the shore of the Lago di Bolsena, Europe's largest Vulcan lake. This town, lying on the famous Cassia road leading from Rome to Tuscany, was home to St. Cristina and the miracle of Corpus Domini. We can visit the catacombs, too, From there we will drive through amazing landscapes to the famous and fascinating "dying town" Civita di Bagnoreggio. This medieval borgo can be reached only by foot over a bridge. The town is slowly disappearing because it is perched on a rock that is crumbling and sliding into the surrounding valley. And let's not forget the stop for lunch and wine!

We had a fun day visiting Viterbo, Bolsena and Orvieto from the Civit cruise port. Susanna and Rudolph were engaging and full of interesting local stories. Our 8 hour private tour went by very quickly. The Lazio country side is just beautiful and so different from our previous cruise stops in Sicily and Naples. This is a highly recommended alternative to visiting Rome from Civit. No crowds and more relaxing.

Starting point: Orte train station or Viterbo city, Civitavecchia Drive to Bolsena, visit the old town on the hilltop. Drive to Civita di Bagnoregio where we can admire the "dying city" from another hill or we can walk through the bridge to the city itself.
