We had an excellent day with Susanna exploring Tarquinia, Tuscania and the nearby Etruscan necropolis. As the Roman Taurine Baths were closed for refurbishment, she adapted the itinerary and created an extremely rewarding excursion. Tarquinia and Tuscania were both fascinating, with beautiful historic centres, impressive churches and a strong sense of place. One of the many surprises was the Etruscan necropolis, which provided a rare opportunity to learn about a civilisation that is often overshadowed by the Romans. The explanations were clear, informative and accessible, bringing the history of the region to life. Susanna’s enthusiasm for the area was obvious throughout the day. As a local resident, she shared insights into the history, culture and everyday life of the region that we would never have discovered on our own. The pace was relaxed, the conversation enjoyable, and the tour felt completely authentic and tailored to our interests. An excellent excursion for anyone interested in history, archaeology and seeing a quieter, less touristy side of Italy. We would particularly recommend any of Susanna’s tours to those seeking a refreshing alternative to Rome.
