Golden Venice: Most Famous Highlights

Discover with me, a medieval archaeologist, the story of this most incredible city through its most famous monuments! We'll visit The church of Saint Mark, a perfect mix of Eastern and Western art, where Saint Mark's body rests since a thousand years, and the Doge's Palace, the best place in Venice to admire masterpieces of Venetian painting and to understand how the longest lived Republic of the world worked.

-We'll start with a short introduction about the Square and its history, admiring its incredible monuments, as the clock tower, the Procuratorie and the bell tower. -Later we'll visit the Basilica of Saint Mark, its amazing medieval mosaics, and much more! -After the basilica, we'll go to the Doge's Palace, the hearth of the ancient Venetian political life. Marvelous example of medieval art, the palace is a treasure chest of art and history; absolutely the best spot to admire masterpiece of Venetian painting. -We'll see the Armoury, the state's rooms and the dark prisons too! To get to them we'll cross the famous bride of Sighs, discovering why it has this strange name.
