Ciao I'm Francesca, welcome to my Toursbylocals Venice page. I was born in Sicily a beautiful island in Southern Italy where I lived for 20 years. I moved later on to Florence to attend university there where I graduated in Byzantine Archaeology. I completed my studies in Siena where I've got a master in Preservation of Cultural Heritage. In 2008 I moved to Venice where I fell in love with this unique city and I decided then to stay for ever! I became a tourist guide because I like people and impress them. I love to show my city and let visitors discover its many wonders. My tours are not just meant to provide knowledge on the art, history and architecture of Venice but they are a fun experience too. I'm not a teacher delivering a boring lecture but a friend ready to fulfil your curiosity. Don't worry, weird questions are allowed too! Discover another Venice visiting Dorsoduro. far from touristic routes. This is the district of Venice I love most. . . . So quiet, authentic and teacupful! When I want to do a walk searching for beauty, this is the place where I usually go. During this nice walk we'll see the Accademia complex, campo San Vio, The entrance of the Guggenheim collection, the scary Palazzo Dario, the magnificent Basilica of Salute, the Zattere promenade, the old shipyard of San Trovaso and much more. Later a visit to the fantastic museum of Accademia, where the best Venetian paintings are displayed.
-We'll get to Dorsoduro, a very lovely district, far from the crowd of touristic spots. -We'll cross the Accademia bridge, where there's a wonderful view of the Gran Canal, to start our exploration. we'll go to Campo San Vio, where you'll learn about the Blessed Contessina who crossed the canal over her mantel, and we'll stop at the entrance of the Peggy Guggenheim collection, to know something about this incredible woman. -If you like scary tales you'll enjoy the palazzo Dario story, a cursed building in front of the Gran Canal. -Later we'll go the church of Salute, a fantastic barocco building, erected to thank the Virgin Mary for the end of the plague in 1631. -Next to Salute we'll admire the incredible view of Saint Mark Basin and we'll begin a nice walk in the Zattere promenade. We'll finishing in the Accademia museum, where masterpieces by Giovanni Bellini, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and Tiepolo are displayed.
