Hello and welcome! First of all I want to thank you for visiting my homepage! Now let me introduce myself! My name is Maria Rosaria and I have been a tour guide of Rome for more than 20 years! When I was in school I studied Latin, Greek and Art history. My Art history teacher was so passionate that he passed all his love for art along to me. At university I studied languages. My passion for art, archaeology and languages led me to become a professional and inspired tour guide. Here you will find my best suggestions to discover and fall in love with Rome! But remember that together we can customize your experience creating tailored-made tours! For example we can visit the Vatican museums with secret places normally closed to regular public like the Bramante staircase and the Niccoline chapel, a unique experience away from the crowds! We can follow in the footsteps of Peter and Paul in Rome by visiting the Mamertine Prison where they were imprisoned, the little church of Domine Quo Vadis on the Appian Way where Peter met Jesus. But also the Abbey of the Three Fountains where Paul was beheaded, without missing the two major basilicas of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Outside the Walls where the two saints, patrons of Rome, are buried. We can visit the archaeological park of the Colosseum with a Full Experience ticket allowing us to see the arena level, the secret passage of the Emperors and the hidden gems of the Palatine hill and of the Roman forum! To have a deep and widespread knowledge of Roman life and habits I recommend a visit to Ostia antica, the city port of Rome, the little Pompei near Rome! Strolling around the remnants of the ancient city we can learn about shops, baths, mills, and homes. Or the archaeological museum of Palazzo Massimo to see frescoes, mosaics, bronze and marble statues like the Boxer at rest and the Discobolus that were decorating public and private buildings in ancient Rome. Rome was made great by Renaissance and Baroque famous artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo, Bernini, Caravaggio. They left their masterpieces in private collections such as those of Borghese gallery or Doria Pamphili gallery. We can arrange a private tour of the Colonna gallery to discover not only the art masterpieces, but also Princess Isabella's private apartment! So, it’s time to make a choice and meet you in Rome! If my calendar appears unavailable, please contact me anyway. I can organize private transportation by private car and driver. I provide pick-up and drop-off at the hotel or port via the driver. I’ll meet you at the meeting point. For easy communication on the day of the tour, I suggest downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone.

Villa d'Este, a masterpiece of the Italian Garden, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its impressive concentration of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music constitutes a much-copied model for European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles. The garden is generally considered within the larger -and altogether extraordinary-- context of Tivoli itself: its landscape, art, and history which includes the important ruins of ancient villas such as the Villa Adriana, as well as a zone rich in caves and waterfalls displaying the unending battle between water and stone. The imposing constructions and the series of terraces above terraces bring to mind the hanging gardens of Babylon, one of the wonders of the ancient world. The addition of water-- including an aqueduct tunneling beneath the city -- evokes the engineering skill of the Romans themselves. Hadrian's villa was built by Roman Emperor Hadrian at the foot of the Tiburtine Hills between 118 and 138 AD.
