Hi there! I'm Barbara, born and raised in Rome, just a few feet from the Vatican City, I love to travel the world and explore different cultures! With a degree in Architecture and a master degree in Historical Building Restoration, I have been studying architecture and art history for all my life, working for several years to the restoration of some of the most prestigious palaces in Rome. Visit the most iconic building of Rome with a passionate, licensed guide and real Roman. . . me! After a short introduction of the Colosseum from outside, we will enter the biggest amphitheatre in the world, almost 2000 years old and we will learn how gladiators and exotic animals fought to entertain the demanding Romans. Then we will climb up to the second level and learn how the Emperors decided of the life or death of the losers. After the Colosseum we will enter the Roman Forum from the amazing Triumphal Arch of the Emperor Titus to reach the Palatine Hill, where Rome was founded almost 3000 years ago. We will walk through the Sacred Way, the most important street of the Ancient Rome, inside the political, commercial and civil heart of the Eternal City, where you can imagine how Romans lived their daily life in the most powerful Empire of the western world.
Barbara was great. Her driver met us at the port of Civiatechia on time. Great driver. Barbara provided with an awesome tour of the Colleseum with such knowledge of the architecture and its use before the gladiator times. She provides pictures of many periods of its use. A wealth of knowledge is sure to be found with Barbara. She recommended a great small trattoria. You will not be disappointed with her expertise of the area. Thank you Barbara we enjoyed it.
A wonderful tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide. Barbara provided us with a wealth of information on the colosseum and forum, bringing the history to life. Our group ranged in age from 18-60 and everyone was engaged. She finished the morning off with a great gelato recommendation. I highly recommend her.
There is something about Barbara! One thing is to know your craft, another is to mesmerize as she shared her deep knowledge of Roman history and dispelled some of the myths of the history of the Colosseum. Our Renovad Retreat Bellas all connected with Barbara in their own way; there was no question that went unaddressed and she made our experience in Rome very special. GRAZIE MILLE!!!
Barbara gave us a great tour this morning of the colosseum. She is Very knowledgeable, friendly, adaptable and flexible. In our tour group there was our 14 month grandson, daughter, son, husband and myself. One family member has limited mobility and Barbara adapted the tour to meet our needs. At the end of the tour she even helped us purchase our metro tickets. We very much enjoyed her informative tour and give the highest of recommendations.
We had a great afternoon with Barbara as our guide to the forum romanum and Colosseum. Our children study Latin, and it was for them the first time to really see what they have learned. Barbara refreshed what we knew before but also let us know a lot of new interesting facts and stories. We entered the Colosseum through the Arena what was really impressive ! So no waiting line and only few people there . We strongly recommend Barbara as a guide in Rome and certainly plan to meet again when we come back
