Discovering Palestrina: Journey Through Ancient Wonders & Medieval Charm

Let's explore the ancient city of Palestrina together! We'll explore the medieval city, wandering through the narrow streets of the historic center of Palestrina. Located 35 km east of Rome, the city was significantly renowned since the 2nd BC century due to the Temple of Fortuna Primigenia, which was constructed on a remarkable series of artificial terraces spanning four levels down the hillside. I'll share the history of the temple & address its significance in antiquity. Although it has been recognized since the Renaissance, the town eventually obscured the temple which was revealed during the bombings of World War II. Another notable attraction in Palestrina which we'll visit is the National Archaeological Museum, which features masterpieces such as the Mosaic of the River Nile, dating back to the 1st century BC, and the ring of Carvilio.

·The tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Rome in a Mercedes with a hired driver, from which we'll depart to Palestrina. ·On arrival I'll provide you an introduction to the city's history before we visit the legendary Temple of Fortuna Primigenia. ·What follows is an exploration of the artificial terraces on four levels. ·We can then do a break for lunch before visiting the National Archaeological Museum of Palestrina. ·After visiting the museum, we can stroll through the historic centre, wandering along the charming narrow streets as we contemplate medieval architecture. ·After enjoying panoramic views and local landmarks, we'll return to Rome.
