Hi there! I'm Barbara, born and raised in Rome, just a few feet from the Vatican City, I love to travel the world and explore different cultures! With a degree in Architecture and a master degree in Historical Building Restoration, I have been studying architecture and art history for all my life, working for several years to the restoration of some of the most prestigious palaces in Rome. I decided to become a Tour Guide to share my lifetime experience in Rome with people from all over the world. I'm really proud to unravel the amazing stories hidden behind every alley and square of the Eternal city, bring back to life the outstanding Roman ruins, show the masterpieces made by the most important artists working for the powerful Popes and communicate my passion and true love for my Hometown, like only locals can do! All of my tours are private and can be tailored according to you interests and wishes, so just give me the details and I will create the perfect tour just for you! I hope to welcome you soon to Rome. . . A presto! Explore the most important Basilicas in Rome by air-con mini van from your hotel in Rome. As a Roman Catholic and a licensed guide for the Vatican City, I will be honored to guide you through the holiest and most important early Papal Basilicas! Starting with St. Mary Major, an authentic jewel in the crown of Roman churches, we'll head to St John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome and the most important of the four major basilicas. Known as St John Lateran Archbasilica, it's considered the mother church of the Roman Catholic faithful! Here we'll also see the Holy Stairs (Scala Sancta) renowned because it is believed that Jesus Christ stepped on them during His Passion. Our last stop is the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, built around 320 A. D. by St. Helena, that contains several significant relics brought from the Holy Land including fragments of the True Cross. *optional visit to Saint Paul (1 additional hour)
