Ciao & Welcome to Italy Tours with Mauro! I have been involved in the Tour Industry for over 13 years now and look forward to sharing my Beautiful country, it's food, it's traditions and of course it's values on life with all of you. Before entering into the Tour Industry I had spent 15 years in the area of Italian culinary adventures. I have first hand knowledge to share with each of you regarding the different regions, their food, wines, cheeses and tasty treats on the side like olive oil, balsamic and the art of truffles! Not to mention the best Gelato in each hilltop town inside and out of Rome. I'm originally from the Eastern side of Italy on the Adriatic Sea, a region called Puglia. So I am no stranger to the best beaches, sea food and nature that Italy has to offer as well. I am young, energetic, fun spirited, honest and most of all always on time. I look forward to having an adventure with you and yours soon! 5 years as a Tour Director of Italian Tours for an American Tour Company based in Rome. 15 years in the Italian Food and Wine industry. I am not a certified Vatican Museum or Colosseum Guide.

Today we will depart Rome to the misterious town of Calcata. The history of this craggy north Lazio town dates back almost 3, 000 years. It was condemned in the 1930s by the Fascist-era government over fears of its impending collapse, and all residents were relocated by the 1960s. However in the 1970s Calcata received a new lease of life when artists began squatting in its abandoned houses and caves. Calcata retains this hippy atmosphere today and there are numerous restaurants and craft shops to browse, as well as the nearby waterfalls of Monte Gelato. Several alleys lead to viewpoints on the edge of the crags, looking over woodland and the odd ruin. Some of Calcata's houses are built right into the rock, forming cave-dwellings. Then we will go to Bracciano, to enjoy a wonderful lunch surrounded by nature Bracciano is located about an hour of Rome: this hilltop town overlooks the volcanic Lake Bracciano In addition to its water sports and lakeside views, Bracciano is known for its medieval Odescalchi Castle
The first stop will be Calcata, located 50km away from Rome and then we will drive to Bracciano. There are also two other small towns around the lake worth exploring: Trevignano and Anguillara. We will have time for a lunch break and to explore this natural town on the lake. Then we will drive back to Rome. Come enjoy this beautiful trip with me!
