Welcome! It would be a pleasure for me to accompany you discovering the most amazing highlights in the area of Lake Maggiore and Orta. I has been 25 years now, since I started guiding in Piedmont: I come from Sanremo, Liguria, and I was fascinated by the sub-tropical vegetation here around: everything was so luxuriant and I was impressed by the quantity of parks and gardens, the colourful blooming of Camellias and Azaleas. It was all so new for me! But after many years reading contless botany books it has become a passion! What a pleasure for the eyes and the mind to walk around the magnificent terraced gardens of Isola Bella, or the Botanical Garden of Villa Taranto. I am very proud of my second home. Anywhere there is some water, there is charm: Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta look simply gorgeous: the Borromean Islands, luxury mansions everywhere, little fishermen's villages, mountains surrounding the lakes. What about a cruise in the Borromean Gulf? A private boat trip is always an experience! I like travelling and I have organized most of all my private travels by myself, with the help of local agencies, who know better. I love nature, botany, geology, art, foreign languages, I am still learning new ones. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and I am so pleased when they remain impressed by the richness and beauty of this territory (which happens every time). A little charming lake
Overview of your Orta tour
A little lake, not far away from Lake Maggiore, surrounded by mountains in an idyllic landscape. Orta is an ancient fishermen village with tiny lanes and a panoramic market square. It is pedestrian area, no cars are allowed. The town is small and you can reach it with a pleasant walk (it is also possible to organize a taxi transportation). It is suggested the visit to the only Island, San Giulio, where there is a medieval church decorated with frescoes in different styles. Inside the church is a wonderful stone sculpture, an ambo, an ancient pulpit depicting the fight between life and death, good and evil, one of the rare medieval sculptures left. You could add the visit to some of the chapels of the Sacro Monte, on a panoramic hill just dominating the little town of Orta. You can reach it climbing from the shores of the lake, or again by taxi. It would also be possible to organize a private boat tour of 30 minutes on Lake Orta (at extra price). • Meet up at Orta San Giulio • It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the town centre, which is very small. • The boat transfer to the island (not included) takes about 5 minutes and will tour around the island before landing, to give you the possibility to look at the hidden part of the island (the private gardens of the houses of the island and the front of the ancient church). • We'll stay about 45 minutes/1 hour on the island, depending on your interest. • Drop of at agreed location All my tours can be customized upon request
