Private walking tour in the Ancient Herculaneum

Located in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum was a holiday resort of the Ancient Romans, destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79 AD. Unlike Pompeii, the volcanic material that covered the city has preserved wooden objects, roofs , doors, food and even 300 skeletons, recently found on the beach . During my tour of Herculaneum you will be completely emerged into the world of the Ancient Romans. You will understand their ways of being and living, their customs and traditions. Thanks to my stories you will be able to relive the last moments of that terrible eruption. We will visit ancient houses, taverns, shops, Roman bath. We will admire the best frescoes, and mosaics. The tour will be enjoyed in complete tranquillity at your own pace.

This is a walking tour with a duration of 2 hours. Herculaneum is much smaller but no less impressive than Pompeii. All of the ancient towns lies at the bottom of an archaeological hole, about 75 feet deep. Getting closer, we will see the area of the marina where 300 human skeletons were found. My tour allows to see most of the ancient town and certainly all the highlights: the Bath-House, the Samnite House, the House of the Wooden Partition, the House of the Stags, the House of Neptune and Amphitrite where we can admire the splendid mosaics, a shop with remains of original wooden shelves, a bakery, the Hall of the Augustals to admire marvellous frescoes depicting Hercules!
