Hello everybody, my name is Francesco. I'm a licensed tourist guide for the Campania Region. Local history is my great passion since I was a child and I feel lucky to have grown up in Torre Annunziata, a town by the sea in the middle of the amazing Bay of Naples, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius and just 5 minutes away from the ruins of Pompeii. I've been working giving tours for 18 years. After my studies, initially, I collaborated with some Mt. Vesuvius volcano guides, as a courier on a private bus with a private driver to pick up guests from different hotels and to lead them to the crater for a tour of the volcano. Later, I got the license as a local tourist guide and since then, every day I'm in a different fantastic place of the Campania Region: Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Mt. Vesuvius, Sorrento, Naples, Paestum, Phlegraean Fields. I have had a lot of experience leading shore excursions for cruise passengers and leading tours for families, couples and small parties. My tours are easy. I give all the historical, artistic and archaeological details but also information about food, customs and way of life of the locals. I also love telling anecdotes and funny stories related to the local history and traditions. Of course, you know that Italy is the country of the good food. Campania Region is popular for its specialities and no doubt everywhere we go I can recommend you a place "for locals" to let you taste the most typical delicacies. Also, I collaborate with local food and beverage producers to arrange demonstrations and cooking classes (for pasta, mozzarella cheese, wine, coffee, pizza, pastries, ice cream, olive oil, limoncello, etc. ). It's possible to customize the tours to your needs. Please, send me a message to let me know your requests and we can build up your tours together. I would like you will experience your tours in the Bay of Naples with me. Look forward to meeting you. Licensed Tourist Guide of Campania Region, Italy Master of European Studies, Camera di Commercio Belgo-Italiana and Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium Master Degree in Business Economics, Università degli Studi di Napoli "Parthenope", Italy I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Local history is my great passion since I was a child and let me tell you that Pompeii it was not the only city buried by the great eruption of the volcano Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79. On the coastline a few miles away there was another town, Herculaneum. This city, just like Pompeii, was at the same time destroyed and preserved by the disaster. Pyroclastic flows covered Herculaneum with a mountain of boiling ash, hiding the remains of the ancient city 70 feet underground. Today, almost 2000 years later, the charm of Herculaneum is still intact. The city was a residential spot for wealthy people. Smaller but richer than Pompeii. Traces of the affluence of the ancient Herculaneum are still visible in the original style and in the elegant decoration of the private houses. Herculaneum is different than Pompeii also for the state of preservation. The two cities were destroyed by the same eruption but the effects were not alike. Let me show you the best of this area in a walking tour full of history!
We meet at the ticket office of the archaeological area or at the parking lot next to the ruins. After a stop to enjoy the view of Herculaneum from above, we go to enter the city from the ancient beach where it is possible to see the skeletons of the people that were taking shelter in some buildings on the seafront. Later we go to visit different private houses, some shops, the baths and the main street. We focus on what is possible to see only in Herculaneum: the carbonized wood, the original layout of the private residences, the elegant and rich decoration of the public and private buildings.
