My wife and I had a private tour with Barbara (and her driver). We had an amazing time at Herculaneum. Fabulous site. We had been to Pompeii prior, and that site is, of course, spectacular too. But Herculaneum was much more intact thanks to the lava cap on top of the ash that preserved things better. Frescoes were in great shape and you could walk down the streets and get a sense not only for what the town looked like but what the interiors of the homes were like. Mosaic floors, heavily decorated walls. The stores were often in great shape too, which was just amazing to see and walk amongst. Barbara did a great job showing us everything and explaining it clearly. Really enjoyed this. She took us to a local pizza joint (at our request) and we enjoyed a fresh, tasty pizza. The museum tour was good too, and we were exhausted by the end! But Barbara knows her stuff.

Hello! I 'm Barbara. I'm an authentic Neapolitan, born and raised here. I love this city and its environs. Unlike so many who live here in the Napoli area, I constantly take advantage of the incredible myriad of experiences available here. Growing up I turned my passion in my field of studies and expertise into my livelihood. I was with my mother, who is a history teacher and most of all a passionate scholar of Roman history. Barbara is not only engaging and fun but amazingly knowledgeable on art and archeology. So we learned MUCH more at the museum than we would have otherwise. She made it accessible and interesting as well as academic. Plus, talk about going above and beyond! She took us to three electronic stores looking for a Fitbit charger that I forgot. No luck at all. But then she also put her husband on the case and he found one near his workplace! We could count our steps!

This is a walking tour inside the Archeological Museo of Napoli. •We will meet outside the Museum (easily reachable with Metro 1). •First, we will visit the Farnese Section, with some of the most impressive statues from Rome like the majestic marble statue called the Farnese Bull. •Then we will visit the Mosaics collection, Gabinetto Segreto (The Secret Cabinet where the erotic decoration founded in Pompeii are displayed), the section with the incredibly modern daily object from Pompeii and the Fresco Collection.
