Hello! My name is Fabrizio, I am a Roman native but have been living in Tuscany for the past 25 years. Even though my original academic background is in business administration, I went back to University to learn about ancient history and am currently enrolled in post-graduate studies as an archaeologist. This has given me the chance to visit and learn about places and spots off the beaten track which I am happy to share in turn with my visitors, especially those requesting personalized tours. I have been working as a licensed tour guide for the past ten years now and I find particularly challenging and rewarding the idea of introducing foreign visitors to Italian culture and heritage under all its aspects: history, food, craftsmanship and other aspects which might intrigue the intelligent and discriminate traveler. I do speak fluent English as I spent considerable time in Canada as teenager, and am looking forward to guide you through exciting places such as Florence - the cradle of the Renaissance or Arezzo, a lesser known Tuscan city-of-art or "città d'arte". When I was 25 I lived for a period in beautiful Venice, as at the time I was serving in the army as a First Lieutenant of the Carabinieri (Military Police). During my free time from service I would often explore the city, a history book in my hand, in long solitary walks and that's how I fell in love with her. . . . when I in later years took up archaeology, I spent time digging in the lagoon on two different occasions, both being projects under the supervision of the Archaeology department of Venetian Ca' Foscari University. When taking my visitors on a tour I like to introduce them, if they so request to local eateries where they can have a taste of our selection of foods and wines in the same places where florentines and "aretini" go, carefully avoiding the "tourist-traps" which abound in places that heavily rely on tourists for their economic activity. I like this job because it gives me the chance to interact with people fron all over the world, from all walks of life, in a relaxed and positive atmosphere. I will be more than happy to consider personalized requests and itineraries if you so wish. I can arrange for you transportation with a licensed driver in order to explore areas of the Tuscan countryside without you needing to rent a car and drive in an unfamiliar area. I do have my own Alfa Romeo, but being a two-seater it is not the best choice to take more than one visitor riding! Undergraduate studies in "scienze per i beni culturali" UNISI - Università di Siena Currently attending post-graduate studies in "archeologia classica" or Classical Archaeology at UNIFI - Università di Firenze Licensed tour guide since 2010 none

Overview of your Florence tour

This tour is specifically devoted to David by Michelangelo, a masterpiece which through time has become iconic of Italian culture around the world, being repeatedly reproduced in the most various contexts anywhere in the world. You will learn about its inception, his author and get to see other works by Michelangelo. You'll get familiar with Michelangelo's own ideas about his art and how he proceeded to create this and other masterpieces. We will proceed to visit other works of art present inside the Accademia. We will then walk through the streets of Florence where we will see the original location of the masterpiece before it was moved to its present location due to preservation and security issues, stressing the political and ideological implications behind such a choice. At the end of our visit, if interested, I will suggest places where to have a good espresso or a glass of Tuscan red wine. . .

Your Florence tour itinerary

- Meet at a convenient location, which might be in front of the Accademia itself - Enter the galleria, visit the David and other artworks present - Walk by the Duomo and on to Piazza della Signoria, in order to see the original context where the sculpture was intended to be, now replaced by a life-like identical copy **Note:** This tour can be customized due to your preference, please ask me for a quote, and I will send you a customized tour for booking.
