Trained as an authorized tourist guide in Copenhagen, and now living in the province gives me a unique opportunity to arrange your tour in Denmark. From my studies in the capital I know most of the strets and the great and secluded places in Copenhagen, but I now consider myself lucky to live in the pensinsula of Jutland in the western part of Denmark. Denmark is the oldest kingdom in the world and here in the area we have some of the most significant proofs on that. The oldest town in Denmark, Ribe from 700 AD and Jelling, the first Unesco World Heritage site in Denmark as well as Christiansfeld, a candidate to become World Heritage. The history of Denmark is important for the way we feel as Danes today. Whereever you are in Denmark, you'll experience stories about the vikings, about our kings over the centuries and you will see beautiful cities, towns and landscapes. I have conducted guided tours in most part of Denmark. In Copenhagen as well as Dragør, the old fishingvillage only 7 miles away from the city as well as to Roskilde with the cathedral and the fascinating vikingships. On Funen to Odense, the birthplace of our great fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen and to the castle Egeskov, which is almost a fairytale castle. In and around Aarhus with it's fantastic artmuseum, Aros as well as the openair museum Den Gamle By and also to the Lake District and the site of the viking fortress Fyrkat. And my own area with Ribe and Jelling as well as the fantastic ruin castle in Kolding and biking- and walkingtours in the beautiful hilly landscape of Eastern Jutland. So welcome to Denmark; I am looking forward to arranging a tour for you; look at the suggestions on the site and ask for customizing a tour especially for you! I'll be looking forward to tell you these and many other stories. . . . Authorised Tourist Guide Qualified School Teacher - Due to licence and insurance issues I cannot act as driver/guide. I arrange transport and use public transport or taxis for tours. - I do not guide in Sweden. - My northernmost servicing point in Jutland is Aalborg, I do not take tours to Skagen.

Overview of your Odense tour

When I was in the army in Odense, in my young days, we were marching like the soldier in the fairy tale "The Tinderbox" written by one of the most beloved writers in the world; Hans Christian Andersen. He was born in Odense and we will be walking in his footsteps, passing the cathedral where he was confirmed, the place where his mother washed clothes, the place where he fell in love with the world of theatre, the house in which he was taught and many other places that belong to his story. Odense, in the middle of Denmark- It is waiting for you to tell you a story about the Ugly Duckling, which later became a beautiful swan; Hans Christian Andersen. The yellow house where he was born in 1805, and where he spent most of his childhood, is now part of the museum dedicated to him. Inagurated in 2021 the new, mainly underground museum is a fantastic Andersen Experience Center. Here his life and fairy tales are visualized in fantastic audio- and videodisplays

Your Odense tour itinerary

Hans Christian Andersen's Birthhouse and the fabulous new Hans Christian Andersen Museum outside view and inside view. Walking tour where we see the school, HCA went to, the spot at the river bank, where his mother was washing clothes, the castle, where he played with the prince etc. If the church is open we go into the Cathedral of Odense; where Hans Christian was confirmed. (Not on Sundays; can also be closed on other days) We pay a visit in the very small Childhood House of Hans Christian Andersen. This house is very authentic; here you really get a feeling of how life was in a poor family in the early 1800'ds. The garden behind the house shows all the plants mentioned in the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen. Can be arranged from Frederica or Copenhagen. This will add on time and more hours. Please inquire! Time for a lunch after your choice or maybe just a snack, that's up to you. You pay for me at food venues on the tour.
