I am glad you decided to visit one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in the world, the country called The pearl of 1000 islands (we have 1244 of them, really!), or 'the Mediterranean as it once was'! My name is Matt and I come from the south of Croatia, the region of incredible beauty called Dalmatia (yeah, those cute, black-spotted dogs come from here, too!). I originate from island Hvar and live in the capital of Dalmatia - 1700 y/o UNESCO city Split. I love history, Arts and nature, and I enjoy sharing the beauty of my region with my guests. My biggest passions are traveling and exploring new cultures, customs and people (I consider myself lucky being able to visit more than 70 countries so far), gastronomy and wines, foreign languages, photography, literature, architecture, geography, international politics and stock markets. I love taking part in pub quizzes / trivia nights and also I am a big fan of outdoor activities: biking, hiking, sailing, kayaking. At age 18, at my first year of university, I became a licensed tour guide, and that is when my professional career in tourism and travel started. In my rich tour guide's career I have been guiding and organizing tours and customized and tailor-made itineraries for individuals and groups all around Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and 25 other European countries. I have been working with the main tour operators from Croatia, US, UK and Australia. One of those was Rick Steves: at the very beginning of Rick's arrival in Croatia, I personally guided him and several of his first tour groups. Some of the specific Croatian sayings included in his Croatia guidebook were learned directly from me :) I have also been organizing congresses, business meetings, conferences and team buildings in Split and other beautiful locations in Croatia. In 2010, as one of the first European guides (and the very first in Croatia!), I joined the ToursByLocals team. Today, with over 450 tours delivered, I’m proud to be by far the most booked ToursByLocals guide in the entire region. . . . For my guests in Croatia, I will be glad to organize and guide the whole variety of tours (half-day, one-day, 1-week; national park tours, cultural tours, wine tours. . . ) around Dalmatia and Croatia, in general. So. . . maybe you would like a morning walking tour of the historical 1700 y/o UNESCO city of Split (discovering its complex history and also seeing some of the GOT filming locations) and then enjoy a Dalmatian lunch in some of the typical 'konoba' restaurants afterwards, followed by a visit to the 3-millennia old UNESCO town Trogir - just a 30 minute drive from Split? Or maybe you are into the Jewish-history tour of Split? Or you are a nature lover who prefers pacing by hundreds of waterfalls of UNESCO National park Plitvice, or by those of National park Krka, or at the beautiful river Cetina canyon, a half an hour drive from Split. . . Would you like to swim in the most transparent sea in Europe? Maybe you wish to enjoy a private speedboat tour, or a driver-guided tour of my island - one of the world's 10 most beautiful islands and the best wine region in Croatia - island Hvar - or visit island Brac, the source of the best limestone in Europe, the island with the most attractive beach in Croatia - the Golden Horn/ Zlatni Rat. Or maybe visit the breathtaking island Vis (the filming location of the Mamma Mia 2, in 2017) and its famous Blue cave. . . Or to experience the oriental charm of the 'Small Istanbul' - town Mostar (Bosnia and Hercegovina) and its medieval, UNESCO bridge? Or, would you like to see one of the best known symbols of Croatia - town Dubrovnik - and its wider region - the incredible wine region of the peninsula Peljesac, beautiful island Korcula or the neighboring country - Montenegro? Whatever your requests are, feel free to contact me and I will organize the tour that suits your plans the best! I provide private walking tours, driver-guided tours, multi-day tours, wine tours, private yacht / speedboat charter tours, customized team buildings, congresses and conferences, as well as the road transfers between Croatia and its neighborhood: Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia, Montenegro. . . I am looking forward to being your private guide and to sharing with you my favorite places in Split, Croatia, on the islands and more. . .

Island Brac is one of the most amazing places in Croatia and one of my favorite islands. It is well known for stonecutting tradition (parts of the White House & the parliaments in Berlin / Vienna / Budapest were built of its stone!). Also, it boasts with the highest mountain - Vidova gora - and the most famous Croatian beach - Golden Cape. Together we will visit the islands' capital Supetar and the oldest settlement on the island - a fascinating 3000 y/o village Skrip. We would see the charming old capital Nerezisca, on the way to the highest mountain peak Vidova gora (2400ft). It's a place with a stunning view at the well-known Golden Cape beach in Bol, at dozens of nearby islands and at the mainland. Wines have been produced in Croatia for over 2500 years, and wines from Brac are among the most famous ones. As we would ascend the Brac mountain, we will reach the famous winegrowing areas. This is where we will enjoy an exclusive winetasting, followed by lunch in one of excellent local restaurants.

Walking and private vehicle. We are using an A/C car (can fit 4 guests + driver, comfortable for 1 - 3 guests + driver). If you are a party of 4, please advise if you want to upgrade to minivan (for more comfort), or you are fine keeping the nice regular car (we are using VW Passat / Škoda Octavia IV) For groups of 5 or more people we need to upgrade to minivan
