ToursByLocals Leadership Team Share Their Dream Destinations For 2021

With 2020 about to be firmly in the rearview, ToursByLocals is ready to look forward to a bigger, bolder, brighter year for travel. It won’t happen overnight, but we’re all ready to start turning some of our long-simmering travel dreams into plans.

2020 saw countless trips, big and small, cancelled. Will we take these lost trips in 2021? Or plan something even bigger for the coming year? We were curious, so asked members of the ToursByLocals leadership team: where is the first place YOU want to go in 2021? Here’s what they had to say:

ToursByLocals 2021 Dream Destinations

Paul, CEO and Founder I want to reprise a family trip to Iceland and Norway that was scheduled for July of 2020. Our plan is to fly to Reykjavik for 3 days. There we’ll visit the Blue Lagoon and explore the north and south day trips from Reykjavik. Then we’ll fly to Oslo and basically do a circle drive around Norway. A highlight will be a visit to the town of Melhus (our family name!) which is close to Trondheim. I also want to visit the Lafoten Islands in the north (pictured – aren’t they spectacular?)Geneva, Director of Operations My dream destination for when we can travel again is South Africa. I have always wanted to go on a safari in Kruger National Park. Now, after a year without travel, my wish to go to on a bucket list trip is stronger than ever. Kruger National Park is home to the big 5 animals and provides an incredible opportunity to view these beautiful creatures in their natural surroundings and protected habitat. And of course, I’d have to take the opportunity while in South Africa to go on a wine tour, again something I’ll appreciate more than ever after a year like 2020.Nikki, VP of Marketing My first trip might just be a cheeky long weekend run to Paris to celebrate the world opening back up with some girlfriends and a bottle (or two) of champagne. Once that’s out of my system, my partner and I will resurrect a trip to Ireland that was canceled due to the pandemic. The trip was planned before I joined the ToursByLocals team and now that I have access to an incredible network of private guides, I can’t wait to get planning again. In fact, I already have my eye on a few tours in the Dingle Peninsula and Cliffs of MoherLuciano, President and Co-Owner We live in Buenos Aires. Once Argentina’s internal borders are open, we want to fly to Puerto Madryn to show my daughter lots of wildlife (sea elephants, dolphins, penguins) and take this tour where we can walk among penguins. I also imagine driving to one of the many beaches farther away and without people, so we can relax for some time. The water is only 18 degrees in summer; not the Caribbean, but worth a short swim. Another day I would drive to Gaiman, a Welsh town well know for its great tea-time with homemade cakes.Jason, Chief Financial Officer The first place I would visit after borders re-open would be Hawaii. I will be sitting on a lounge chair next to my wife. After some time spent touring the island, we will be on the beach gazing at the waves crash into the sand. There will also be a pina colada in my hand. And to keep things realistic, my kids would probably be screaming the background. Can’t wait!!!
