Saying Goodbye to Roman Bily

Jul 02 2014

This morning we received some very sad news about one of our guides in Prague. Roman Bily was diagnosed with a serious illness in April, and he passed away today. Roman was one of our most popular and endearing guides in Prague. He had been one of our partners since 2010 and had taken more than 140 groups of ToursByLocals travelers on tour, receiving unfailingly positive comments from every one of them. The testimonial below from traveler Leonard Rosen embodies the spirit of the work Roman loved to do, every day: "Roman was the best guide I've had in a long career of travel. He's engaging, knowledgeable, funny, resourceful. Not once did I sense he was tired of material he must have shared hundreds, if not thousands, of times. He loves his native city, Prague, and it shows. He is constantly studying, gaining new information to share with his clients. I recommend him heartily, without reservation. He is, simply, the best." All of us at ToursByLocals who worked with Roman over phone and email will remember him as a friend: kind, helpful, sincere and always positive. As Roman so often told his travelers, "I met you as clients but I left you as my friends!" Roman leaves behind a wife and three young boys. Our thoughts are with them, and the rest of Roman's friends and family today, and in the days to come.
