Deep Dive into our Cancellation Policy

When you book a travel activity, you never plan on cancelling it. But as the past couple years have shown us, having clear and fair cancellation options in place is absolutely essential when it comes to making trip plans.


For every tour you book on ToursByLocals, you have the option to use our no-cost, Standard Cancellation Coverage, or purchase Cancel For Any Reason Coverage, for 15% of the cost of the tour. Below is a quick breakdown of the two options.

Standard Cancellation Coverage


All bookings at ToursByLocals are covered at no cost under our Standard Cancellation Policy.


You can cancel any tour up to 15 days before the tour takes place and receive a full refund. Tours cancelled after this point are not eligible for refund or credit, unless the reason for cancelling is an unforeseeable event.


Unforeseeable events are impersonal events, such as:


Travel restrictions imposed by governments, war, civil insurrection, strike, extreme weather, earthquake and natural disaster. They also include circumstances where a cruise ship cannot dock, or flight to your destination is cancelled. Please note, they do not include personal or family illness or injury, poor weather or a change of plans.


Cancel for Any Reason Coverage


Purchase optional Cancel for Any Reason coverage and have the freedom to cancel your tour for any reason, up until the minute it takes place, and receive a full refund. All you need to do is contact ToursByLocals Support by phone or email prior to the tour to request cancellation. Easy. It’s peace of mind when you’re just not sure what might come up. Cancel for Any Reason coverage costs 15% of the tour value.


And as a bonus, should you purchase coverage and then take the tour as planned, 100% of the policy value will be returned to you as a promo code to use on any future tour booking for the next year. You can even transfer it to a friend. (Yes, this means the coverage is basically free!)
