This nontouristy Bai Tu Long bay day tour is perfect for those who would like to travel off the beaten track in , to be away from the popular cruise route Halong Bay, you'll see fewer or even no tourists on this trip. This route is more authentic, quiet and way less touristy than Halong Bay. Note: We do require a Shore pass (provided by the cruise), a copy of your passport with a stamp of the entry date to Vietnam, a copy of your Vietnam visa I also offer a sightseeing trip of Bai Tu Long in other location, which is way less touristy than Halong, which is good for those who like just a sightseeing trip.
David is a great guide. He hired a large boat for our small group that was very nice. The lunch was fabulous with a large number of dishes. He managed to visit the tour spots sandwiched in between other tour groups, so we felt like we had this quite crowded bay to ourselves. He was knowledgeable while giving us time to relax. His English was excellent.
David was a superb guide for our part of 10 from the UK visiting Vietnam for the first time. His English was first class and we got a real feel for the everyday lives of Vietnamese people from his descriptions and his responses to our questions . His recommendation to visit Bai Tu Long bay as being less touristy than Halong was spot on, and meant we were the only boat present when we entered the Limestone cave. Although the boat could take 80people or so, the ten of us had it to ourselves and were looked after really well by the crew of 4 who cooked us a lovely and varied lunch, taking account of 1 vegetarian and 2 non fish eaters in the party. We had a memorable day, particularly enjoyable given that our normal modus operandi is to disembark the ship and do our own thing with tours and taxis. If stopping at Halong port we would highly recommend David to organise your tour
Skip the crowded tours boats in Ha Long Bay and take this tour! You will have a more scenic ride free from everything except the local traffic and some amazing food! There is no way you can regret this tour!
David was worried we wouldn't like the boat coming from a Seabourn ship since the description said rustic but we had a blast. It was raining and David actually stopped on the way to the junk boat to buy us long ponchos since our rainproof jackets were too short. Lunch on board was phenomenal and every single item was delicious! We hardly saw another person on this tour. David was friendly, speaks great English, is very patient, responsive, and gave us a wonderful experience that we will always remember.
8:00 Depart from Halong International pork to Ao Tien port (Van DOn) (about one and a half hour drive) 9:30 : Show the documents to the border police. Check in the boat. Board a wooden junk and takes us through some traditional oyster farms and the most stunning compressed and twisted islets, formed by mountain creation movement nearly 500 million years ago. After 1. 5 hour boat ride, check out a local island where most of the villagers are fishermen. Take a walk and explore the island Going for a swim- (Optional) Continue navigating through the stunning limestone scenery of the bay, it's the best time for sitting on a topdeck and enjoy the stunning beauty of Bai Tu Long Bay Lunch with seafood from the local market (Option for vegan and vegetarian also) 14:25p Hiking up 300 steps to the top of abandoned Dong Trong island and see the best view to Cai Rong port and Bai Tu Long Bay 15:30 Return to the port.
