Lousã Schist Villages w/ transportation & departure from Coimbra

Sara was very knowledgeable, and we had the freedom to explore or not. We never felt rushed. The beautiful weather made the trip to the Schist Villages even more wonderful.

This was our favorite day on our trip to Portugal! Sara was the best - a gentle and kind person with rich information at every turn. She quickly fit in and felt like part of our family. Sara's information allowed us to efficiently see everything we wanted to in Fatima - such a powerful experience. She gave us the choice of a meal on the road or waiting for a meal in the villages - we voted to wait. Great choice! The restaurant in Talasnal was incredible, including a friendly kitty cat who kept a close eye on our table. The goat (old goat) was our favorite food of the entire trip. Talasnal and Candal were stunning and Sara taught us so much. We even got to stop to see a castle on the drive. Sara's mountain driving skills are outstanding - we were in safe hands. Book with Sara - we can't wait until next time!

We enjoyed our tour with Sara to the villages. She navigated those narrow roads beautifully, and was very knowledgeable about the area.

We had a wonderful tour of the Schist Villages with Sara. She is very professional and well educated about the area and Portugal in general. She took us to several very beautiful viewing spots, where we could see the villages from a distance and get a sense of their scale and location in the larger landscape, and then we visited a few of them, walked their streets, looked at the construction of the buildings close up, and went to a lovely cafe in one village for coffee and sweets. She knowledgeably addressed our specific interests, showing us the new mt biking trails. We learned a lot and were inspired to spend more time in this area.

We spent a wonderful day exploring the mountain villages of Portugal. Sara's willingness to share her knowledge of the Lousa region and the hidden treasures of the Schist villages greatly enhanced our appreciation of her country and culture. This was an interesting tour to places we might not have seen or learned about otherwise. The Schist villages combine history with a storybook quality, and they're located in the woodsy hills not far from Coimbra--a lovely hiking area. Sara's knowledge of the area provided a different perspective of Portugal that visitors might not get from visiting only the large cities. She's a very thoughtful and personable tour guide...and also a great driver, which was reassuring on the winding roads to the villages!
