The first part of the journey is full of reflection, forcing you to look at difficult history. Stutthof was a Nazi concentration camp established near Gdańsk (Danzig), Poland, in 1939, following the invasion of Poland. Initially for Polish leaders and intelligentsia, its conditions were brutal, characterized by harsh weather, poor living conditions in wooden barracks on marshy ground, and inadequate sanitation. Second part is a must. Highlights of beautiful Gdansk. Gdansk's history is characterized by its strategic Baltic location, leading to periods of wealth and autonomy, particularly as a major Hanseatic League member. The city experienced a "Golden Age" in the 16th century as a prosperous trading hub. It later became a Free City before WWII, which began with the attack on Westerplatte in 1939, causing widespread destruction. Post-war reconstruction and the Solidarity movement in 1980 marked significant chapters in its recent past.
