This tour gives you an opportunity to visit both biggest places of Istria, Pula and Rovinj, with free time. Pula is a real center of Istrian Peninsula, with more than 3000 years of being inhabited, it offers a lot of historic landmarks from different periods, thus it is nowadays a modern industrial city. Rovinj is considered to be one of the most charming and picturesque places on the Mediterranean, it is a combination of traditional Adriatic fishing town and modern global summer resort place with lots of art and other mumbojumbo stuff within the old town. Bale hilltown is still one of the still undiscovered gems of Istria, former castle/fort existing/non existing for almost 4000 years, and it is located near to Western Istrian Coast between Rovinj and Pula. Bale is also one of my favourite still not fully tourist discovered places. . . Since there is not so much for driving, if timeframe allows, this tour has limitless options for wineries, olive oil farms, restaurants etc.
Matt was so knowledgeable and willing to share his love of Istria. He always went the extra step, from calling the hotel to make sure their golf cart dropped us off at the right place to having bottles of cold water waiting for us in the car.
Matijas was a fabulous guide, extremely knowledgeable about the entire area, including sites, history, culture. He was flexible in being able to make last minute changes in our itinerary based upon our interests. His communication skills are excellent. Strongly recommend, and if I ever have family or friends visiting the area, I will refer them to him.
We enjoyed spending the day touring the southern Istrian Peninsula with Matt. He brought a complex and passionate understanding into the long history and landmarks. We appreciated Matt's expertise to kick off our Croatian and Slovenian tour.
Enjoyed a lovely day with Matijas. Pula was wonderful as was Rovinj. Monakadonja is a hidden gem. The olive oil tasting was great, including the ability to taste some "just pressed" not in the bottle yet oil. Great day.
We had an 11 hour tour with Matijas and visited 3 historic towns leaving from Opatija. We greatly enjoyed the whole day. Matijas was a professional, knowledgeable and energetic guide who really knows the Istrian peninsula. We are very interested in history and in photography and he had a depth of knowledge that he readily shared throughout the tour and also identified good photo stops. We would definitely recommend him as a guide.
Matt is as good a guide as you can find. Thoroughly professional, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He tailored a tour for us and we were absolutely thrilled with our day. We told him what we were interested in, what we were not interested in and he listened and delivered. We could not have been more pleased. I recommend him without reservation.
